May - June, 2005

06/30: my room is finally DONE!!! people who visited me in the past couple days (namely ken, kathie, and tiger) can testify to how difficult it was to walk inside without stepping on something other than carpet. theres still a couple more finishing touches i wanna take care of - clean drawers and polish mirrors - but i'll worry about that later. for now i deserve a little break =). soo anyways, heres a few pics of what my room looks like now:

LEFT: random presents from family & friends sitting on top of my stereo. (the doggie seems to enjoy spinning around with the discoball =) ). i just added my catalina seashells... they're hard to see in the pic though. MIDDLE: updated car display with a rebuilt upper deck designed to survive earthquakes... the old shelf collapsed once, destroying my $60 james bond z8 model, and i can finally relax knowing its not gonna happen again =). RIGHT: updated main display - ford concept collection moved to make room for the GT.

so yea, enough said about my room. i'll be makign some more necessary changes to the display shelf, but thats gonna wait until another day. for now, i'll post one more pic. look what came in the mail a couple days ago:

Stacie Orrico - Live in Japan. its only sold in japan, which means there are very very few copies imported to the states. i'm listening to it right now... soo good!! theres 14 live songs plus a techno remix of "i promise", and i think theres video content too. so heres how i suddenly decided to buy it - before going to catalina i was searching borders.com for an Ocean Waves cd (cuz i knew i would wnat it really badly after i get back), and it was like $5something plus shipping (free shipping is only for orders over $25). so i went to checkout to see how much it would cost with shipping, and it said $0.00!!! turns out a long time ago i had a gift card and the remaining balance is still on the website! so i was like hmm maybe i can buy something else too. so i went to the christian imports section and found the stacie cd. its $20, which makes a total of a few cents over $25 (free shipping!!). and the biggest surprise, when i went to checkout it was STILL $0.00!!! how awesome is that!? i love it when i randomly discover free money hehe. so yea, if someone can read japanese feel free to translate everyting on the back of the cd cover for me hehe... for now i'll just listen to it (dun worry the cd itself is in english) and enjoy it. now that my room is clean, i can finally start enjoying those great summer nights when i'm in my room with the window open all the way and music playing nonstop (i just program it on 3-disc repeat and add new discs when it gets close to finishing). tonight my family is having a BBQ =). havent done that in a really really long time. i cant wait hehe. ok, thats all for now. oh wow its the end of june huH? i guess this is my last update before everything gets archived... all the car pics and everything hehe. tomorrow this site is gonna look so nice n clean! ok anyways, i'll shut up now... byebye!

06/27: i literally sneezed over a hundred times today. stupid dust allergies... but that's wut i get for trying to undust my room hehe... i've been cleaning basically the entire day since i woke up. when i needed a break, i sat down at the computer. for those of u who had complained that there aren't enough 'summer' wallpapers on my site, go check again (fun stuff > wallpapers > photos) - i just added my five favorite scenery shots from Catalina! hope u like them too =). anyways, like i mentioned yesterday theres a LOT of awesome stuff happening in the weeks (and months) to come. here's a quick heads up on what my summer looks like so far -

Sunday 7/3 (this sunday) - S.O.L.D. REUNION. its been a long time since we disbanded and finally we're gonna get together again for a night of food & games. i know theres been a lot of random changes, mostly cuz of me (sorry!), but as of tonight everything is settled - we will meet at my house and have a BBQ dinner. and no i wont have to end the party early, cuz the next day is july 4th so nobody has to get up early in the morning =). who's invited: everyone who used to be part of s.o.l.d. (if anyone else wants to come im sure we wont kick you out though hehe). please RSVP on the evite (or let one of us know you're coming) cuz we need a headcount.

Friday 7/15 through Sunday 7/17 - HARVEST CRUSADES. this year's artist line-up is amazing - friday: deliriou5? & casting crowns. saturday: toby mac, jeremy camp, kutless. sunday: steven curtis chapman, jars of clay, crystal lewis. location: angel stadium. price: FREE. this is about as good as it can ever get. carol and i will be going on friday & saturday (see next paragraph about sunday). ken's going on saturday and trying to make friday too. EVERYONE IS INVITED, so if u wanna come please let me know. there's still room on my car, but i'll be going VERY early (at least an hour or two before the doors open). carpooling would be a great idea (cuz parking is expensive). i'll update with more details when the time gets closer. but i know a LOT of people will be going, so if ur going let me know so we can meet there or go together =)

Sunday 7/17 - UCC ANNUAL BEACH TRIP. yea i know, it really really sucks that its the same day as the last day of Harvest. but having already gone two days i think i should still choose to spend the day with all my church friends. again EVERYONE IS INVITED... we're just gonna head down to the beach after church and chill there until night. its a LOT of fun (see pictures of previous beach trips for proof hehe). lemme know if u need permission slips / more info / whatever...

Friday 8/12 - UCC ANNUAL LUAU. the date is still tentative and theres no details yet, but the luau is also really really fun, and again everyone is invited. save the day free, i'll post more details when the time comes

End of August - TAIWAN TRIP. my family has been struggling over this decision for a month already - we haven't been back to Taiwan in TWELVE YEARS, but because of our busy schedules its almost impossible to find time to go. It's gonna be a short trip, i think just one week (dun remember, gotta ask my mom)... it took this long to make our decision cuz we were on the waiting list for plane tickets, and today my aunt in Taiwan confirmed that we have a spot. so we'll be going for sure. for the most part its gonna be visiting relatives/friends that we havent seen for over a decade. but i know soooo many of my friends are gonna be in taiwan at that same time, so i would LOVE to meet up there... dun think i ever met with friends at another country hehe... its gonna be so fun!! and plus i'm gonna practice chinese and improve soo much =).

ok, thats about it for now. it's midnight and i cant sleep yet cuz my bed is covered with stuff that has to be moved to the floor so i can sleep on the bed. tomorrow morning all the stuff will be moved back to the bed so i can clean on the floor. gosh why do i have so much crap hehe... anyways, i wanna sleep soon so i better shut up now. byebye!

06/27: to those of the world that i have left behind - i'll be coming back for you soon. some of you may have found me already, while others may be mad at my disappearance. still others may have forgotten me completely. i have been taken away from you so that i could learn to see the world from a new point of view. several times i tried to return, but was unable to do so. this time i'm returning not because i need you, but because i love you. my mission is almost complete, and i can guarantee that when you see me again i will not be the same. please don't consider me a foreigner, because even though i have changed, the changes will only help make our world a better place. remember, i'm coming back because i love you. i look forward to seeing you again soon.

06/26: i actually scared myself this morning when i woke up and realized i was staring at a wall. i wanted to cry cuz i miss catalina soo much, and i can still close my eyes and see the place i where spent the last week. of course, i have plenty of stuff to remember it by, including the pile of seashells sitting on the ground and the 'ocean waves' cd i bought earlier this month, which arrived yesterday just before i got home. yea i know im crazy... but anyways, church this morning was awesome. played for shaw's worship team (with no practice hehe)... oHh and i got a couple little surprises too =). not gonna write about that til later though. the bulletin says it's james' last time at UCC. wut da heck!? so no more sunday school?? *sooo sad* after church i talked with wilson about lots of cellgroup stuff... we went to in-n-out n then went to chill @ shaw's house...

so yea, that was my morning/afternoon. ken wu came over at night to talk... he just left not too long ago and i'm back to work in my room. today i started my annual room renovation (its only 'annual' cuz ive been doing it for several years and its always around the same days)... so far it's sooo messy i cant even really plan wut i wanna improve. i'll start with reorganizing my bookshelf and redesigning a few of my car displays. gosh i need a life hehe... but yea, it's finally summer hehe... i'm gonna do some random teaching/tutoring jobs, but other than that im pretty much all free, so if u wanna hang out please dun forget to invite me =). theres already some awesome events coming up in the next few weeks, but i'll write about that later. for now i'll go shower and sleep. goodnite!

06/25: it's been almost a week since i last looked at a computer screen. a week since i last saw a paved road. a week since i last slept under a roof. my hands and legs are bruised from climbing rocks. my feet are blistered from walking in sandals for an entire week. but even though my flesh is weak, my spirit is strong. this past week i truly experienced walking with Jesus, through studying the book of Mark, interacting with other people, and being surrounded by the indescribable beauty of Catalina Island.

Sunday: met at 449 and headed over to the harbor. walked around talking to people and meeting new people... i sat with david eugenia and her tiger (hehe), talking to all three of them while waiting for the boat. i spent the entire boat ride on the top enjoying the wind. windsurfing is soooo funn!! feels like i'm flying, except if i do get lifted off the ground i'll probably fall off the boat and end up drowning. i was jus chillin in the wind and talking to whever happened to be next to me, and suddenly guess who shows up - Ben from UCI!! my lobster partner from last year!! we miraculously met again after a year, and realized we still wanted to get a lobster hehe. anyways the boat ride was sooo short... suddenly i looked forward and saw in the distance the place that i had fallen so deeply in love with last summer. the place where i experienced a freedom that i never found anywhere else. the place where i could look all around me and marvel at the idea that God's love is deeper than the oceans and higher than the mountains. i spent the night walking around the beach thinking about how much things have changed since i last walked on that shore. i felt really bad because i wanted to spend some time preparing my heart before catalina, but i really didn't have the time to do that. all i could do was ask God to make the best out of the week to come. i decided to continue what i did on the final night of last year's camp - sleep on the dock. this year it's so much nicer cuz the sky is clear, which means there are sooo many beautiful stars, and you guys know how much i love watching stars =). and plus this week is full moon - even though that kinda gets in the way of the stars, it's just as beautiful, especially when i get to stare at it until i fall asleep. took me a while to get used to it again, probably cuz i didn't realize how much it would help to bring a matress with me. hehe... stupid me. by the time i realized it, i didnt feel like walking all the way up to my room to grab my mattress, so i stuck with sleeping bag on hard wood hehe.

Monday: yes, my back hurted, but luckily only a little bit. not a very big deal. but i did decide to use a matress from that night on, just to make it a bit more comfortable. the bcf worship team led worship for the night... apparently the camp did make an attempt to fix that piano a little bit, cuz its a bit more in tune than last year. but still, i had to pull out a few strings and do a LOT of dusting hehe. yea i know i'm a picky neat-freak =). its the first full day of intense Mark2 studying, kicking off a week of experiencing the second half of the life of Jesus. as usual, i was more on teh quiet side, but i tried to contribute every once in a while. during freetime i walked around the beach again and ran into david (from uci) and jen and chilled with them for a while. later that night the lobster crew reunited to begin our hunt, beginning with the crabs on the rocks, the moving to the dock. and yup the lobsters were still there! we picked up right where we left off last year, hoping to be successful at some point during the week.

Tuesday: as an application of what we studied in Mark2, our group decided to do OTS everyday for breakfast. i'll admit honestly that at first i really didnt wanna do any extra work... but eventually we all learned to have fun while serving at the same time, and it definitely helped us bond more as a group. my biggest complaint at first was that doing OTS would cut down on quiet time - one of my favorite times of any retreat. but thank God we agreed to start class later too. i spent my free time on the hiking trails (shady grove and fletcher) by myself. i stopped about 5 minutes away from reaching the top of the hill, and spent some time admiring the beauty of the island while worshipping and praying. i think thats the most awesome part of going on retreats - i feel like i'm worshipping simply by walking around and admiring the beauty of the environment, because God rejoices when he sees his people rejoicing in his creation. and i could talk/sing out loud and nobody would hear me, and even if someone did, they would have no idea it's me hehe. made it back to camp just in time for a shower before the evening study. that night me ben & thach continued our fun from the night before, making even more progress.

Wednesday: played ping-pong with ben... turns out i dont suck as much as i expected, but its probably cuz the wind was blowing my direction, meaning i could hit the ball really hard and it would somehow get blown backwards and still land on the table hehe. and its not cheating cuz its not my fault there's wind *innocent smile* hehe... i played ping-pong with erinn too, having just met her minutes ago... we were talking and playing at the same time and realized that she went to walnut and theres a LOT of people that know both of us. its the crazy azn connection hehe... anyways then it was time for the craziest relay race in the world, including solving riddles, sprinting, eating, basketball, tonguetwisters, swimming, kayaking, and more... me n becca were the kayakers (it's the only thing i know how to do hehe). we were right next to the Repeaters kayak, and unintentionally collided, causing them to turn and go off course. then they cut us off at the corner and took the lead again... but we beat them at the end =). good job everybody. at night me, ben, and our gang went to the dock again for you-know-what. thach was sick AND fasting so he didnt join us this time, and he definitely missed out - our primitive rope, crate & rock method actually worked! to make a long story short, by 3AM that morning we had fulfilled our year-old dream with very satisfied stomachs =).

Thursday: sleeping so late and waking up for OTS really isnt a good combination, and as many of you know, staying up late at night is VERY uncalvinlike. but at a place so beautiful i actually find it hard to lose my energy. and the unlimited coffee definitely helped too =). of course, sitting through 3-hour sessions of manuscript study is still difficult. but by this point my attitude towards it has begun to change. as some of you know, i'm not exactly a fan of the inductive method. but with the help of an awesome group and two great leaders Jerome and Win, i began to realize that my opinions are actually good enough to help the discussion, and so i began to speak up a lot more. i guess what made my attitude change was the fact that even interpretations without evidence are at least considered, and rather than immediately slamming it down as impossible, we all worked together to find proof either for or against it. during free time i went crabcatching with the crew... we decided to start early so we wont have to wait until midnight when the tide finalyl goes down low enough for us to go to the rocks. caught a bunch of them and stored them in Buffalo Billet to be used later that night. the last hour of freetime was spent snorkeling! last time i snorkeled was probably in middle school... its sooo fun!! whoever invented the wetsuit and headgear is a genius hehe. took me sooo long to figure out how to put on the goggles and the little breathing tube thingy. but once i got the hang of it it was simply amazing. the one stupid thing i did was that when i jumped back into the water after taking a short break, i totally forgot that my goggles weren't over my eyes/nose and ended up very confused as to why there was water in my nose. gosh im so stupid *smacks self on head* hehe. ohh and ben found me a cool shell (cuz he knows i like them) so i held it while snorkeling, and suddenly it came alive and started moving in my fist and scared the crap out of me!!! hahaha... snorkeling i caught the last couple minutes of the basketball tournament before running to beat everyone to the showers hehe. guess who won... the Freshmen!! wow... impressive hehe. so anyways, after study ended at night, the hunt began again. while we were on the dock elaine (who i met earlier in the week) was taking a walk in the dark and i shined my flashlight at her without realizing it, until i went back for a bathroom break and realized she was there. once again, stupid me. but anyways we walked around the camp for a while talking about random stuff... something in the bush kept on making noise but i couldnt see anything. scary... so anyways back to the dock - once again we were successful. the catch wasnt as big as the one from the night before, but we cooked it better =). with that we (at least most of us) decided we had enough fun for one year. maybe we'll try again next year? =)

Friday: took a walk up the Middle Ridge trail by myself, knowing its the last day of camp and theres so many things i wanna think about. made it back just in time for the baptisms. testimonies were awesome, and once again seeing baptism in the ocean is simply amazing. congratz everybody =). afterwards we had worship on the beach... soooo awesome. then the final basketball game - Freshmen (yesterday's winners) vs Interns. and believe it or not, the freshmen won!! not even Eubanks could stop them! hehe... this is definitely gonna go down in CBS history. and then at night - the last full meeting for mark2... the part where Jesus gets crucified. very very intense discussion, but i definitely learned a lot. at night we had a big joint meeting in the main deck - testimonies, worship, thanks and goodbyes, prayer, and more. since its the last night, a lot of people stayed up all night to chill. a bunch of the sophomores told me to go to the bonfire for a class meeting, and i kept saying 'i'll go in a bit' or 'i might be busy'... u kno, the usual excuse. at the end i finally agreed to show up for a little while. turns out it wasnt a meeting at all. i was REALLY surprised... im not gonna write about what happened just yet, but thanks soooooooo much to everyone who contributed in any way to it. later that night i walked around the camp/beach by myself, worshipping and praying and thinking about all the great things that happened this week. had a great talk with david (wang). i stayed up til like 2:30ish, then went to enjoy my final night sleeping to the sound of ocean waves and the glow of the moon and stars.

Saturday: the final meeting of mark2. if theres anyone reading this that hasnt taken mark2, please remember to not give up trying to understand the text until you reach the end, because at that point every moment of frustration becomes worthwhile. contrary to what i once believed, the gospel isn't only a story of Jesus. there are so many other characters within that story, each with his/her own significance. all the people who were healed by Jesus, the people who mocked him and criticized him, and of course, his own disciples. Peter, probably the disciple closest to Jesus, ends his story by denying his master three times then falling down and crying. Even though Peter ends his story in such shame, he still has hope at the end. On the morning after the crucifixion, there was a young man in white sitting in the tomb of Jesus, and he said "Do not be amazed; you seek Jesus of Nazareth, who was crucified. He has risen, he is not here; see the place where they laid him. But go, tell his disciples and Peter that he is going before you to Galilee; there you will see him, as he told you". Probably the greatest thing God showed me this week is that I'm a lot like Peter - even though I've seen so many miracles in my life, I still fail to please God so many times. Just as Jesus's disciples forsook him and fled after he was arrested, I feel like the things I learned in this past week will be struck and challenged now that I have left the comfort zone of the island and have to once again face reality. But even though I have denied Jesus countless times, he still doesn't give up on me. In fact, i believe that he will go before me to the places where my faith will be challenged, and with that in mind i will try my best not to let my manuscript be left collecting dust in a corner, because each time i look at it there are always new things to learn from it.

after a morning of helping clean up the camp and taking pictures with a bunch of people, suddenly i was on the boat on my way back home. saying goodbye is definitely not easy, but i'm glad that in this past week i strengthened so many friendships and even met some new friends. i can only pray that all the great things that happened at catalina will not scatter and fade away over time, but will have a lasting impact on our lives. praise God for such a great way to kick off the summer. so far i really dont have much planned for summer, but with the same open heart that i left Catalina with i wish to seek after God's will for what he wants me to do in these next few months, because his will is always greater than my own. for now, its time for me to shut up and make up for my lack of sleep. goodnight!

(note: pics will be up within the next couple days as soon as i get a chance to post them =) )

06/18: soo... the wedding actually went pretty well. i was panicking so much its not even funny... but at least its over... and even though i do have a lot to complain about regarding how much trouble i had to go through because of the lack of organization and early planning, i really dont want that to be my attitude in an event like this... its my friends wedding and i should be celebrating wtih them. all the trouble i went through is totally worth it. congratz choe & wendy =).

so yea.... today was a ridiculously busy day as i mentioned in the previous entry. didnt get to relax until like 7PMish when i got home. and even then i was so irritated after a day of stress that its hard for me to relax. these past couple days i've been having random bursts of headaches, probably due to several days without good sleep. sorry to people who called me recently and didnt get much out of me... i'm at the point where theres so many things on my mind that even talking becomes additional stress. believe it or not, right now i actually have time to sit down (for just a few minutes) and write this entry. i have a couple more things to pack for catalina, then i'm gonna go straight to sleep (which i desperately need, especially cuz i'll be @ church 8AM tomorrow for CWT. thank God they didn't decide to meet any earlier =) ).

so anyways, this is gonna be my last update before i leave for Catalina (tomorrow after 2nd service worship). i'm looking at it as another event in my crazy schedule just so i dont forget anything, but i know that once i get on that boat it's gonna be total relaxation for a whole week. i'm bringing my camera this time, so i hope i'll be able to bring back some of the island's beauty to share withe veryone. and as most of you already know, because this is a retreat, i will NOT be answering my cell phone this entire week. feel free to leave me a message if you miss me, cuz i would LOVE to hear your voice when i'm back hehe. so yea, i think i've said everything i needed to. time to finish packing and go to sleep. ohh wait one more thing - i'm coming back next Saturday 6/25, probably around evening time. so i'll probably return calls/emails/whatever on sunday (or saturday night if i'm not too tired... im pretty sure i will be hehe). and of course, a whole week in the sun means that when u see me again i'm NOT gonna be an excessively white asian anymore! hehe... ok anyways i'm really gonna shut up now. to everyone thats going to catalina - i'll see you tomorrow! =). to everyone else, we'll hang out after i come back. =) bye everyone!!!!

06/18: as you can tell (based on the lack of updates recently), life has been really busy lately (and will continue to be for a very long time, hence the need to update now even though it's already past midnight). i guess i finally realized that since its finals week, i should be studying for finals hehe. pretty sure i did well on them =). it really duznt feel like summer yet cuz i'm still so busy. so lemme start summing up everything that happened this past week.

monday - i was totally surprised when my floormates invited me to go to bruin cafe with them... didnt get to hang out witht hem in sooo long. we went to Food for Finals at night too... that was definitely awesome, especially cuz i knew over half the people helping out so i could pretty much take as much stuff as i wanted. but its not like i needed any more food in my room anywayas hehe. then went to the lab to write the previous entry (the car pics one) while listening to jazz for thursday's final

tuesday - went to the computer lab to get some work done in in the morning, and as i was passing by bruin cafe i heard my name from above and looked up... apparently crystal was looking out her window and happened to see me. how random is that? hehe... so i ended up having lunch with her for the first time this quarter!! hehe then in the afternoon i was talkin with ken on the phone while waiting in line for a smoothie (come on, i had to use up those swipes!), guess who i ran into - diana! she was with lisa n their mommy (helping move out i geuss)... lucky UCSD people finished with finals already hehe. i spent the afternoon in the lab listening to jazz songs for thursday's final. then at night tiffany n i went to study theory @ kat's place (the final was wednesday). its always great having people to study with... we just throw out random questions from the review sheet and try to figure them out, and eventually we end up covering everything taht could be on the test. very productive, and also very fun. we took a few interesting pictures, which will be online when i get a chance to post them (trust me, its REALLY interesting hehe).

wednesday - breakfast with kat @ 9... then went back to my room to get my stuff and went to her place for some last-minute cramming. actually we didnt really even study - she was messing with my nail hehe. then it was final time - my FIRST final! eveyone else was like done already, especially all the south campus people hehe. but yea... i think i did pretty well. hopefully my assumption is right. after the test i took a walk down to the botannical garden... its such a nice place. i simply felt like after an amazing first year of theory class, i had to take some time to think about all the miracles that brought me where i am now. and of course, i had to visit those turtles too hehe. so anyways, after going back to my room, i had the rest of the day - ONLY the rest of the day - to study for BOTH of my thursday finals, jazz @ 8AM and english @ 11:30. how much crazier can it get? went to the lab and finished editing my final essay for jazz... did a bit more listening until i felt more or less confident about it. that was my last time at the computer lab - i had thought i would drop by at least once more to update my site, but i guess it didnt happen hehe. so yea... lots of studying... dinner definitely helped wake me up =). dropped by yune's room afterwards to help her with computer stuff. then back to more studying - for the rest of the night.

thursday (yesterday) - i wasnt exactly in a good mood when i got up at 7AM (!!!) to get ready for my finals. even though i rarely stress over schoolwork, i tend to have a problem sleeping when there's so much stuff to think about. that night was the one night i needed good sleep the most this whole year, and it turned out to be the worst night ever - having to put up with both my own worries about finals, packing up, and the weekend (i'll get there in a bit), and at the same time making sure people on the other side of the wall dont start blasting music with the subwoofer on max (cuz apparently they were all done with finals already =/). so to make a long story short, i ended up lying in bed for about 2-3 hours unable to sleep. gosh i should have just chosen to pull an allnighter instead. but anyways, heres a 60-second summary of the first half of thursday. 7:00AM - woke up, got breakfast, got a smoothie, went to take jazz final. whizzed through it as fast as i could and left in about an hour n a half (cuz i had to cram english too). dropped by bruin cafe for a smoothie. then crammed, then went to take the english final. finished that and finally felt relieved cuz i was all done. went back to the dorm area, got a smoothie, got extended lunch, and started packing. originally my mom wanted to pick me up thursday night but i told her i didnt have enough time to pack, and thank god she agreed cuz i ended up using just about all the time i allocated for packing. my wall took a long time to tear down, and i realized i had a LOT more stuff in my room than i thought. at 6 i went to dinner (yes, my 6th swipe in the same day) - the last dinner of the schoolyear! that reminds me, i need to post a really random picture hehe

is that cool or what? in case ur wondering, its NOT alcoholic hehe (even though i wouldnt mind adding a bit hehe). if u eat with me often uve probably seen several of these before - its my special dessert recipe: jello, fruit, and soda. great way to get attention when walking around the dining halls hehe. and it tastes nice too (even though i admit it duznt take long to get tired of it, so i dont make it every day). this is one of the most unique color combos - green jello with peaches. i love it! hehe... anyways enough babbling about that. so at the end it was me vincent n kitty left, and we decided to hang out for the rest of the night. (everyone else had to study for friday finals hehe). outside deneve we were messing around and vincent attempted to jump onto the railing (for the stairs), except he slipped and landed on his crotch. painful, but hilarious. i happened to be on the phone with my mom and she didnt know wut was wrong with me cuz i suddenly started cracking up. anyways, then we went to chill @ sproul... dropped by sara's place (5S), and i was looking at the floor pictures to see if i recognized anyone, and it turned out lois lived there! so i went to find her room, and she was all finished packing and just about to leave! luckily i was there to say bye hehe. i ended up helping her carry stuff downstairs (theres a LOT of stuff hehe)... ran into eugene at sproul turnaround... he was also helping people move out. gosh arent we so nice? hehe jk so yea said bye to lois and went back to sara's room... emily joined us there too. we decided to leave after a bit so we wouldnt bother sara's studying. went downstairs to the piano room to chill for a bit, then went to bruin cafe, where i got (can you guess?) a smoothie, and was left with THREE swipes. while waiting, lisa showed up and said her mom was waiting outside and she wanted to get her a smoothie but she only had one swipe left so they're gonan share one. so of course, i helped her obtain that extra smoothie, leaving me with just enough swipes for this morning's breakfast and my last iceblend hehe. anyways, went back to emily's room n chilled for a bit, they all stayed to watch a movie but i decided to leave n finish packing first (just in case there wasnt enough time in the morning). went to sleep after 1... probably one of the latest i've slept at school all year. but hey, its the last day, it duznt really matter right? =)

i guess what really sucks abotu finals week is that people start disappearing around you and its really depressing sometimes. i know this sounds weird, but honestly i actually enjoy my finals to an extent, because i know that it's the last time i get to see my classmates. sometimes i just love to glance around (dont worry im nOT cheating!) and see the people around me, and think about the chances that i'll be able to talk to them again in the future. for music theory, i'll see them all next year again - its like the last day of a high school schoolyear - everyones so happy its summer, but so sad to leave their friends. for english class, i can only wish i'll run into my classmates around campus and they'll still remember me. its definitely one fo the most amazing calsses i ever took - how many TAs take the time to write a goodbye letter to every student in the class? i'm seriously gonna miss that class sooo much... most people probably didtn notice but i stayed like an extra half n hour after finishing the final cuz i didnt wanna leave. but of course at the end i had to =/. and then back in the dorms, people are packing and disappearing so quickly... its simply impossible to say bye to everyone i know. but for the most part i have to say this schoolyear ended very well (though a bit rushed in my opinion hehe). my floormates, even though many people (including myself occasionally, to be honest) have complained that they're really loud at night, are definitely awesome people... there's been some conflicts that left me unsure of whose side to take, but as the quarter came to an end i started to understand whats most important - they're my friends, and i dont want to forget them. as i was leaving this morning, i stopped next door for a final goodbye, and its always great to know that they want to keep in touch too. yes, i know hedrick is a far walk... if only the sushi can make u go visit me, then call me when u get sushi hehe. then i went downstairs with my cartload of stuff to wait for my mom to arrive... ran into swathi who was also moving out... also ran into vincent n emily who got to meet my mom hehe. mom took me to costco on the way back to take passport photos, then went home, picked up carol, and went to brea to take care of passport stuff. another thing i'll explain later.

so anyways... it's 12:48 right now and i desperately need to get some good sleep. why? well, im teaching piano tomorrow morning, and after that i'm going straight to Choe and Wendy's wedding cuz i'm playing piano for them! yupyup, my first time playing piano at a wedding. how cool is that? who would ahve guessed i was gonna spend much of my finals week trying to learn the wedding march? hehe... i'll admit it was REALLY stressful cuz of the serious lack of organization... it was hard but i tried to stay committed and i think i'm ready for tomorrow. only problem? i wasnt at the rehearsal. (and no, its not my fault. i gave everyone my schedule a long time ago, they said they'll work something around it, and they never did.) so im gonna go straight after teaching piano tomorrow to make sure i know exactly wuts going on and make sure i'm prepared. oh and by the way i just got back from carol's piano recital (which i promised i would go to a long long time ago), meaning i didnt exactly have much free time today either (not that its a bad thing... i had fun seeing my teacher again hehe). tomorrow after teh wedding i'm gonan stay (at church) for worship practice for sunday. thats gonna take until night. then come home, write another update, and pack. gosh i didnt even finish unpacking my school stuff and i already have to pack again! but its all worth it... sunday i'll be at chuch for chinese worship, and after 2nd service worship i'm leaving to catalina! actually maybe i'll stay for service if possible. we'll see... anyways i feel like i'm gonna pass out right now, so i'm gonna go sleep. goodnight!

06/13: ok, time for car pics. lots of them. i feel kinda guilty for posting this many pics in one entry, but i'll excuse my self just this time, since the schoolyear is almost over and i wont have such awesome carwatching opportunities until after summer. so anyways, friday i left for Beverly Hills at 1:30PM, about an hour after the sky cleared up. the long walk across Wilshire Blvd was quiet at first, until a Phantom appeared from behind me. i knew from experience that not far ahead was the interesection with Santa Monica, where it's ALWAYS congested really badly. so i started RUNNING... ran for maybe a quarter mile? then the Phantom turned right into the gas station, so i knew i caught it for sure. two men in formal attire came out and talked to a mechanic at the station who was totally amazed at the sight of the car. something was wrong with the left front tire... first time i've seen anything go wrong on a $320,000 car! but yea, took lots of pics of it, even one with the door open! here they are:

note: i'm only gonna post SOME of the pics i took, cuz there's 40 altogether, so if u wanna see all of them, ask me to send them to you. moving on... i ventured a bit farther than i did last time - stopped at the corner of Crescent and Wilshire. and yes, i passed by the Ferrari/Maserati dealer. peeked inside the window for a few seconds, its actualyl a really small place. and unfortunately i didn't see the enzo. i didnt bother going inside, but dont worry, all the cars i saw on the street leave me with no need to go into the showroom. i continued wandering around the city aimlessly and ran into these two cars:

(Left) mercedes-benz G-class convertible. not too exotic, but definitely a rare sight, since these are sold only in Europe. some of these have been imported, but they're really rare and i've only seen them sold through places like DuPont Registry. (Right) dodge Viper RT/10 - this is where the fun begins... until this point my camera hadnt been put to very good use (meaning i didn't see much that triggered my finger on the camera button). just as i took out my camera to shoot the Viper, i noticed a yellow 360 Modena two cars behind it. at that point i knew i was in for some serious workout. i got a pic of the Viper before the light turned green, then ran across to the other side to get the Modena. it made an unexpected left turn into an alley, so i had to go back to the intersection, cross the street, then run to the alley to find it. it was gone already, so i followed the driveway wishing i would catch it parked somewhere. unfortunately no luck, but going into that alley was definitely worth it, cuz i encountered this baby parked in a corner.

ferrari F430 Spider, the latest model in the ferrari lineup. it just came out a couple months ago, and i was really really surprised to see one already. its brand new, still with the dealer plate attached. (see? told ya i didnt have to go into the showroom =) ). i stared at it for a really long time... a security guard was standing not too far away, but he didnt mind me taking a bunch of pics of the car. seriously, how often do you get to see an exotic's interior/engine up close like this? i didnt even get to do this at the auto show!

anyways, back to that Modena i was chasing. after leaving the alley with no luck, i caught a bentley Azure driving right past me, and looking farther in the distance there was a Gallardo parked next to the street. then when i turned around and looked behind me, the yellow Modena showed up again, and it found a parking space! i went for the Gallardo first, got a bunch of pics, then ran back for the Modena. and on the way there a ferrari 575M pulled out of a parking lot right in front of me, just in time for more pics. few seconds later that same F430 spider from the alley drove right past me. and somewhere during all that the Viper appeared again another 2 or 3 times. oh and did i mention all this happened in a span of about half an hour? some people probably thought i was crazy running around everywhere with my camera. but most of the people there were tourists too, and some even helped me point out some exotic cars parked along the street. besides, i wasnt the only one there taking car pics anyways hehe. so anyways, here's the pics from that half an hour:

(Left) bentley Azure. (Middle/Right) lamborghini Gallardo. by the way, it's the exact same gallardo i saw on the last beverly hills trip (but only got one butt shot of). notice the three guys in the last picture, they were also taking pics of the car. only problem is they failed to realize that the sunlight angle makes the car look much better from the other side. or maybe i was the only one that dared to run to the middle of the street to get a pic. (dont worry, there were no cars on the street). those guys all took turns taking pics of each other posing with the car. i would have asked them to take one for me too, except i was so sweaty and ugly that i didnt wanna bother them. and besides, i had a Modena to catch =)

(Left) the Modena that led to all the fun. (Middle) 575 Maranello coming out of the parking lot. (Right) the same F430 spider stuck in traffic.

...so that was the best part of the afternoon. but it doesn't mean all the fun ended there. random exotics continued to show up, and not a single one escaped my camera. well, one did - a gold f430 (coupe). but it was really far away. anyways, i'll let the pictures tell the rest of the story.

(Left) those underground parking structures were REALLy tempting, so i decided to walk inside one of them. i looked down from a railing, only to find myself staring at the hood scoop of this 550 Maranello. what are the chances that you randomly look down a fence and the first car you see is a ferrari!? anyways, a few seconds later i was standing right next to it with my camera. a Valet driver closeby walked over to see what i was doing, but when he saw the Ferrari he just smiled. (Right) another 360 Modena. and no, it's not the same one. this guy made a random lane change, almost causing the BMW behind it to collide with it. that would not have been a pretty sight.

(Left) ferrari 456. i was just innocently crossing the street, and i turn around and this baby was the first car at the red light. i later found it parked in an alley and took more pictures =). (Right) ferrari 360 Spider. this is the last 360 i'm gonna post today, even though i did see another one (black spider). this one looks customized with the chrome ChallengeStradale-ish rims and the chrome exhaust holes. is it a special edition model?

i'll end this long series of pictures with one last car. for people like me, traffic jams are definitely paradise. and the random pedestrian crossing areas on the street definitely make life easier. after a few seconds of waiting frantically for the "walk" sign to turn on, i finally made it to the other side where i could get clear shots of this car.

aston martin DB9. beautiful huh? it doesn't exactly scream 'look at me, i'm rich and spoiled' like a ferrari would, but at the same time its so elegant and sleek. a totally timeless design, one of my all-time favorites. i saw a couple of them on Sunset these past few weeks, but didnt get to take a picture until now.

there, how's that for one afternoon? one thing i havent mentioned is that all of the above pics are NOT CROPPED. my phtography is definitely improving =). anyways, i left Beverly Hills at around 4:30PM and made it back in time for a shower before dinner. during dinner i tried closing my eyes for a few seconds, and i could literally see little strips of city traffic. dont worry, i'm not hallucinating, at least not yet. but that was definitely enough carwatching for one day. or maybe even more than that. when i originally planned my second Beverly HIlls trip two weeks ago, i intended on going again today. but obviously that's not gonna happen, and i really dont see a need to go there again until next schoolyear. for now, i'm totally satisfied.

to make things better, today is Monday, which means exoticspotter.com just posted their latest batch of pictures. and of course, i made sure my pictures were represented once again. this time it's the black lamborghini gallardo (2/5/05), red ferrari 612 scaglietti (6/7/05), and rolls-royce phantom (6/10/05). its the one at the gas station posted at the beginning of this entry. sometimes it must suck to be rich - the guy bends down to pump his rolls-royce tire, and *snap* he gets a picture of his butt posted on the internet. hehehe... anyways, thats all for now. i better shut up cuz i gotta get more studying done. byebye!

06/12: wow... REALLY long time no update. sooo much stuff happened these past few days. its still kinda hard for me to walk straight right now cuz of the blisters on my feet (from friday's little expedition). even my HAND is sore from holding the camera in ready-to-shoot-anytime position for three hours. but its all worth it... i took over 40 pictures, and i still cant help stare at them right now hehe. actually i got a LOT more workout than the walk to BH and back. but i'll save the details for that til later. and of course, the pictures too... dun wrory i'll post them, but not yet, since its gonna take me a LOT of photoshopping. i'll probably drop by during the day sometime this week so the lab wont be full, cuz i gotta scan some stuff too and thats on the same computers that have photoshop. but anyways... the weather on friday was VERY cooperative - it was totally cloudy when i woke up and i was like 'screw this i'm gonna go anyways' but then it cleared up completely about an hour before i left. the next morning it was cloudy again. how perfect is that? hehe... anyways i got back a little before 6 and went straight to the shower, then dinnered at deneve. went to chill at Yune's room afterwards... she was learning to play nfsu2 =). she got sooo addicted! hehehe... hope it wont affect her studying or anything cuz then i would feel really really guilty. but anyways, at 9 i left sproul to go to Veteran for *drumroll* jonathan's party!! i actually got kinda lost finding the house number (cuz it was sooo dark n hard to see), so i got there like 10 minutes late, only to find out that i'm the first one to arrive. thats a good thing and bad thing hehe. helping with cleaning the house really wanst all that bad, and just like i told jonathan, i know hes gonna give me an A this quarter =). eventually more people started filtering in... and then a LOT of people started coming. i had told a lot of non-music-majors about this party and they could hardly believe it was possible - come on, how many of your TA's invite you to their apartment and give you alcohol? and yes, i did have a little alcohol. contrary to wut lots of people seem to believe, i'm NOT against drinking at all. and for those who didnt know, Christianity doesn't forbid drinking. (dont forget, Jesus turned water into wine!) for me, i dont really believe in drinking for the purpose of getting drunk - running from reality isn't gonna get you anywhere in life. but for social reasons i'm totally willing to partake in drinking (as long as im not gonna drive hehe... i actually asked my mom thursday night if she coudl drive home cuz i originally said i would drive on the way back... and she had nothing against it). actually, i was surprised that there were a lot of people who didn't drink at all and wouldnt do it no matter how much other people pressured them to. and in case i didnt get to tell you this at the party, if ur one of those people i totally respect your self-discipline. but anyways... i talked with dan trapani most of the time... he wasnt planning on staying long but ended up staying long anyways hehe. before i left i had a really good talk with severin about wanting to take both composition and piano... he gave me lotsa good advice (thanx!). too bad i had to leave right away cuz i didnt wanna keep my mom waiting. but yea... mom brought me to sproul, i went in and grabbed all my stuff (already packed) and we headed home. so i went to sleep at like... 2AM. ohh and did i mention saturday morning's piano lesson got moved up one hour earlier!? when i said ok i totally forgot about the party. but owellz... i still survived hehe. took various naps throughout yesterday... at night i talked with steph (lin) on the phone for like a couple hours. gosh its been sooo long since we talked like that... and of course i always love long phone conversations hehe. steph read "Mr & Mrs SmitH" over the phone from beginng to end! first time anybody ever read me a movie hehe. i can pretty much say i watched it now =). (and yes, i gave her permission to 'spoil' the movie cuz chances are i'm not gonna get to wtach it anyways since i'm gonna be completely busy all the way until the last few days of the month. more details on that later).

today - went to church... lunched w/ ken at q-noodle. we had another one of our parkinglot conversations hehe. and i got a boba too =). come on, i havent had one this weekend yet! hehe anyways, then went home and got some work done until dinner, and then came back to school. so um... based on wut i wrote, saturday & sunday dont seem all THAT busy. so lemme touch on a couple details =)

first thing - jacob's RS-70 has a shell now!! last week he came by n dropped off a brand new case for it. since the keybaord is so small, the case makes it twice as heavy. but it has wheels so its worth it =). lets just hope i can find a place in my room to leave it. its definitely gonna help when i move the keyboard around, especially when it comes to protecting it from damage. ive bumped it into a couple walls before and luckily nothing happened. but it could be worse, so i'm really glad it has a case now. and when i have to bring it to the apartments for rehearsals, i dun hafta carry it around naked anymore! =)

second thing - the latest news on my laptop, for those of you who are concerned. yesterday it underwent its long-awaited brain transplant surgery, and the operation was a success. i was just as excited as when i first got the computer before coming to college. its sooo great to have my own working computer again. but as surprising as this may seem, i'm still in the lab right now. i decided not to bring the laptop to school this week, figuring that since i already spent 10 out of the 11 weeks of spring quarter without a computer, i might as well finish it off the same way hehe. i see my brokened computer as not only a technical problem, but more importantly a time of learning for me. and until i completely understand the lessons i need to learn through this, i'm not gonna go back to sitting in front of the computer for hours. trust me, this waiting period is definitely worth it. and i'll be sure to post a big entry on exactly what i learned through not having a computer for a whole quarter.

few more things before i shut up - dont worry, i didnt forget that theres still a zillion pictures i have to post online. theres a few that i need to collect from various people, and i'll probably be visiting those people sometime this week (before the quarter ends) so i can work with the pics in the summer. also, i'm gonna apologize ahead of time cuz i probably wont be having regular lab hours every day this week cuz of finals n everything. so i'll be checking email at random times, which means if u need anything from me please just give me a call in case i dun have time for lab. ohh and about finals... i'm actually free until wednesday. theory final is 11:30AM... then thursday i have jazz at 8:00AM (aaaah!!!) followed by english at 11:30AM (AAAAAH!!!!). that day is gonna suck hehe. i'm probably gonna be leaving ucla friday morning so i have time to pack and say bye to people after my finals. but yea, good luck everyone! =). ohh and if ur feeling stressed, dont hesitate to call me for a smoothie run =). those 28 swipes need to be spent well! hehe... ok i'll shut up now, bye!

06/09: wow... these past couple days have been really crazy. so much unexpected stuff happened. starting yesterday morning - after breakfast with steph and teatime as usual, i went to jazz class only to find out that professor walser was really sick and couldnt show up. so the TAs gave us back our graded rough draft essays and we did evaluations, and thats it. i feel so bad for the professor for not being able to make it for the last lecture. but then again, that left me with over an hour of nothing to do (before theory class at 1). so i decided to go for a walk in bel-air. had an awesome time, until i made a wrong turn and totally lost my sense of direction. and knowing me, i rarely (if ever) lose my sense of direction. but seriou5ly, bel air is one crazy maze of a neighborhood to navigate through. actually the whole community has no sidewalks at all (so i walked on the side of the street), but i guess they did that so idiots like me wont get lost. and i was REALLY lost. i totally thought i was walking south (which would lead me back to sunset blvd), but turns out i was going north instead - straight into the mountain. so i kept thinking that if i go a bit farther i'll end up at sunset. but it enver happened... i kept going and going... it was 12:35 and i finally decided to screw it and turn back. and thank god i had my scooter on me, cuz without it i would have missed a whole hour (literally) of theory class. i tried asking people around me how to get to sunset... first guy i talked to was a gardener but he said 'no hablo inglés'. not too helpful... (if i wasnt so worried at the moment i probably could have worked up the guts to say '¿dónde está Sunset Blvd?' but anyways... talked to a couple other people who kindly told me to keep going straight (after i turned around aready)... so i followed their advice, tracing the path that already got me into so much trouble. saw a sign that said 'sunset blvd', so i followed it. based on my sense of direction, i figured i would end up on bellagio road (by hedrick). the road split in two, so i randomly chose one. there was this insanely long hill going down, so i took my scooter... and it was such a big risk cuz if it was the wrong way, it would have taken me FOREVER to get back up. finally i arrived at the big street. i was sooo relieved to finally be somewhere i recognize, but at the same time not too happy cuz i realized i was right in front of beverly glen, which means i was another big hill away from campus. so i ran up that hill, got back on campus, and made it to class about 10 minutes late. not TOO bad i guess, but its my first time being late this quarter, and professor lefkowitz already started lecturing. i was so busy trying to stop sweating that i didnt pay attention to wut he was talking about. and hten like half an hour later i looked up on the board and saw the Fugue subject he was talking about. it looked REALLY familiar. and then suddenly it all made sense - my fugue subject/contersubject was on the board!! so yea, that little moment of glory definitely made up for all that crazy running to get to class on time. after class i dropped by the botannical gardens to chill there for a while, and just as i sat down i got an unexpected call from *drumroll*... serena!! she was on her way to ucla to pay for next year's housing. and yes shes coming to ucla next year!!! *soo happy* hehe... so yea, went back to sproul to meet her to talk for a few minutes. got to meet kowsigan too =). i wanted to back to the garden afterwards but it was almost closing (at 5) so i didnt go. got a call from sara for dinner an hour later, and after that its all tea, piano practice, and labtime. spent most of the night working on my english essay revision. usually i tend to get too lazy to do much revising and end up turning in something nearly identical to my rough draft. but i actually worked on it a lot this time... on tuesday judy asked me to help her with finding sources n stuff... for some weird reason i tend to work harder after having chances to help people. i guess it makes me feel more confident hehe. but yea, thats about it for yesterday. moving on...

today was a pretty sad day... last day of english class =(. we had our class breakfast party... soooo much good food! and we watched othello... kinda sucks to end the class with watching a movie when everyone dies at the end. but yea... i hope i'll still get to see my classmates around campus n stuff. and of course, the final. anyone wanna study together? hehe... im not gonna worry about that til next week though. today was also the final for keyboarding. a few seconds after i got to the room and sat down, severin was like 'calvin ur going first. ur gonna go in ONE MINUTE'. one freakin minute!!! wut about warming up!? aaaah!!! i was totally freaking out at first, but after getting back to my senses i was actually really happy. i guess its an honor that he makes me go first, cuz he trusts that i'll do well and finish on time (so it wont delay everyone else). i did pretty well... few minor mistakes, but probably not gonna change my grade much. im gonan hafta study hard for lecture final though, so anyone wanna study together just call me up anytime (and yes, you have to call me now cuz i already disappeared from the world of instant messenging hehe). anyways tonight was senior catalyst which means i didnt hafta do worship. so i got to dinner with the sproul community. not a lot of people went today but still its a lot of fun =). we walked to catalyst together... afterwards i was coming up sunset (just a random night walk i guess...) and there was this one insane cop hiding behind the bush and pulling over people nonstop... i watched him give out FOUR tickets in a row. its only the middle of the month, why worry about the quota already? hehe...

so anyways, i should get out of the lab now (its 11:30) cuz i wanna sleep well tonight. tomorrows a special day - after jazz discussion (which ends at 11), i'm coming back for lunch and then i have nothing to do until night (music major party!! yaay! *cant wait* everyone better show up! =) ). so in the mean time i decided to go out and have some fun. any guesses where i'm going? and no, i dont care about the weather anymore. this time i'm walking to rodeo drive just for the heck of it, and given the pictures i arleady took this week, i'm aalready really satisfied. since im leaving right after lunch, i'll be able to stay for a REALLY LONG TIME. if im not too tired, i'll probably swing by the Exoticar gallery (the new one that just opened a few months ago), and if im really in the mood for it, i'll drop by the ferrari dealer. there's an enzo there right now and its still in its wrapper!! maybe if i swing by i'll be able to get a peek? we'll see... anyways, i'm gonna head back now and get ready to sleep. ohh and i almost forgot, gotta charge my camera batteries!! it would really suck if i walk three n a half miles only to find that my battery's dead, and halfta walk another 3.5 miles back really disappointed. so yea, i'm outta here. goodnight!!

06/07: alright, here it is- the big update about my life. not that its that interesting anyways hehe. but yea, again i'm sorry i havent kept up to date with these entries. i'm trying hard to think of where i left off... i think it was friday. so friday night carol's cellgroup was at our house, and afterwards i talked with grace for a really long time. i still find it amazing how we NEVER run out of stuff to talk about, even the most randomest things. and telling corny jokes only made it better =). only downside of the night is that i was suppsoed to have finishsed most of the research for my english essay already, but that was when i realized i couldn't get on the library.ucla databases at home. so i was pretty screwed. but enough about that.

saturday- really busy but awesome day. went to teach piano in the morning, then went straight to steph's house for worship practice (for sunday). it was just me her and shaw, so we kept things simple and practiced at her house (which saved me a lot of time going to/from church. and yes i really needed that time hehe). went home with less than an hour to eat lunch (costco burger hehe) and get dressed. why? cuz it was time for the claymusic concert in torrance! me, my mom, uncle michael, and choe took one car (cuz my keyboard and his bass/amps took up a lot of room). traffic made us a little late, but chinese events never start on time aynways hehe. so the event is a dinner banquet thingy held by Full Gospel Ministry (the "happy people" hehe), and they set up the stage risers and the lights. yes, LIGHTS. it was amazing, they had a cluster of spotlights for the stage (not too bright, but still really effective), along with a bunch of rave lights. there were like 4 or 5 spinning colorful strobes, plus a kaleidoscope and a discoball. crazy huh? any one of those could have taken care of the room. but yea, it definitely helped set up the mood for the music. as for the concert itself, i hafta say its one of claymusic's best ever, at least for my part. only downside is that my input cable got kicked during "freedom", so that awesome electric guitar stuff didn't come out. but its not that big of a deal. and then the testimony.... my gosh it is the most amazing story i've every heard. 19 years ago, the speaker's friend owed him money and he went to get the money from him, but his friend was drunk and they broke into a fight, ending with him being innocently shot four times and sent to the hospital in critical condition. his arm is still really badly scarred, and the last of the four bullets is still stuck in his stomach right now. pretty intense huh? especially cuz he didn't do anything wrong at all. it gets even crazier when he later has to confront the man who shot him and learn to forgive him. that part was sooo amazing to me cuz i totally relate to it, except his situation is a zillion times more intense than anything i've been through. afterwards was the alter call, and when i played "amazing grace" it was one of those times when i was no longer worried about the music itself, but was so engaged in the whole atmosphere that the music came easily and naturally right from my heart. its such an amazing feeling knowing that God is using my hands to minister to hundreds of people as they came up to accept christ or rededicate their lives to their faith. so anyways... after all that, we had to take down and load our equipment, and then aunt amy suggested going out to eat. i was next to my mom and i told her 'i bet its gonna be bananana bay' just before aunt amy said 'how about banana bay?' hahaha... nothing wrong with that place though. only problem is that i already ate dinner, and didnt think i could finish another spicy shrimp fried rice. but i ended up finishing it anyways =).

got home at like 1:30ish, went straight to bed, and somehow still managed to wake up for church the next morning. had lunch afterwards with ken steph(lin) kathie pricilla melanie joseph n nolan. then went home for theory homework - the LAST homework of the year. i realy didnt have much time to do it, especially cuz i was so worried about the english essay. but yea, my mom was nice enough to send me back to ucla earlier so i could work on the essay. so thats wut i did for the rest of sunday night. then yesterday - luckily Lefkowitz didn't make us do the whole fugue exposition by wednesday, cuz that would have killed me. its fun, but i simply didnt have the time. but hey, i finished my essay, so i'm happy =). and i even had some time to start the next essay, which i'm actually working on right now. it's the extra credit essay for jazz class, and i chose to write about my jam session experiences with jacob. and writing about my own life has never been a problem for me =). so yea, i'm about a paragraph short of five pages, and i should be done in about 10 more minutes.

*ten minutes later* i'm done!!! yaay =). next thing to worry about - revision of the 8-page paper due on thursday! AAAAAH!!! i'm gonna go crazy =/ too many essays! but at least the hardest part is already over. so anyways i didnt really write about yesterday n today yet - yesterday i came to the lab in the afternoon to do some essaying, only to check my email and realize that hannaf has decided to organize a dinner once again, and she even mentioned that its to keep me company hehe. *feels sooo loved* and sooo many people showed up. its like my first time eating in the dining halls with the sproul IV community. we have to do that more often! hehe... anyways then today - walked down sunset to go to class as usual. ran into jeewon and we walked to class together. thats wut i love abotu scooters, since i'm going at a different speed than everyone else, its really easy to run into people i know going the same way to keep me company =). to today during class we did peer revision of our essays. i was so ashamed to let anyone read my paper (cuz it sucks so much), but i definitely got lots of helpful comments. turns out judy and i wrote on the same text, so we can actually help each other with finding more sources. it really makes me sad thinking about english class, cuz thursday will be our last class (except for the final). hopefully people will wanna keep in touch cuz i'm gonna miss everyone soo much =/. we're gonna have a class breakfast party... its gona be so fun, but its also gonna make it harder to say byebye. hope i dun cry =/

lunch with kat was awesome as usual... we walked to class together, both worried about our finals. u kno wut really sucks? i got a 99/100 on one of my dictation assignments a few weeks ago. not that its a big deal, but it's my only 2-digit score!! *sooo sad* owellz i should be satisfied with wut i have =). fast forward through the afternoon (see previous entry hehe), and i'm at deneve eating dinner with kitty sara vincent ky swathi n elena. another awesome meal spent with my friends. these days i'm really wishing to not have to eat alone often, cuz theres so many people that are only gonna be in the dorms for about another week (and going to apartments next year), and i wanna have a chance to hang out with all my [ucla] friends before summer. but dun worry, if u guys need swipes next year, i'll be glad to donate like i'm doing right now. hehe... anyways, i think i'm finally about done babbling for today. time to pack up my stuff and get out of this lab (its pretty crazy here tonight, its 11:30PM right now and the lab is still completely full! thank god i came early =) ). so yea, goodnight!!

06/07: so after i wrote last night's car-crazy update, that last line of essay took me a LONG time to write. i ended up going to bruin cafe for a smoothie, followed by a zillion phone calls. not that any of those things was a waste of time... but basically by the time i finished the essay (and started on the one due tomrorow) i didnt have time to update anymore. dun worry, i'll get to it today, i promise! but for now, lemme finish my jazz essay first. it's extra credit, but im pretty sure i'll need it. pretty fun essay for the most part, so i'm not stressed about it. and plus i'm in a really good mood for various reasons, one of them being what i did this afternoon. finally, the sun's out, and i was REALLY tempted to start walking to beverly hills right after class. but i decided to save that til later, and drop by beverly glen instead. actually let me rewind a little - today's tuesday, which meant lunch with kat =). before that i had about half an hour of free time, which i spent standing on sunset blvd learning my sightsinging (for the final today) and shooting car pics. i arrived just as a viper and a phantom drove right past me. camera wasnt ready yet though =/. and i wasnt exaclty giving all my attention to the road, cuz i was learning sightsinging at the same time. but i did glance up just in time to catch a DB7 vantage. not gonna post that though, cuz i've posted pics of that car already. i'm trying to cut down on the pics by posting only new and really significant stuff. but dun worry, as u probably know, everytime i write about carwatching, theres always some pics to go with it right? i'm gona start with just ONE pic first. that means it must be an important one. see for yourself =)

most cars capable of 200mph prefer the fast lane, and thats why my zoom was a bit too high when i took this pic. (this is how it looks uncropped). but still, it totally made my day. for those of u who havent figured, it's the $450,000 mercedes SLR. second one i ever saw on the street. dont worry, i learned my lesson regarding the zoom already. next time i promise i'll do better =)

sightsinging/dictation final wasnt too bad. the dictation would have sucked if i didnt listen to the mp3 last night, cuz its really really insane. but half the class already wrote out the notes and memorized it, so it wasnt a problem =). i left schoenberg at around 2:30 and headed to beverly glen/sunset. to sum up the day, lemme just say that i dont regret not going to rodeo drive today at all. yes, it was THAT awesome. the SLR alone could have done the job, but there was much more. nothing at that price level, but still good enough. i spent about half n hour sitting at holmby park, and other than that, it was all carwatching. so anyways, heres some more pics:

Left: ferrari 456 coming out of Bel-Air. i arrived at the intersection just in time for a pic. Right: bentley continental. its already replaced by the continental GT, but its still beautiful =)

Left: 1960s jaguar e-type roadster. this is the car that inspired the design for the current XK8. saw it just as i crossed the street going to holmby park. Right: 1st generation dodge viper, caught on my way back to sproul. actually, i THOUGHT i was on my way back to sproul, until i sporadically decided to turn into one of the side streets (having just seen a 360 spider enter, and several aston martins and bentleys in the past). its one of the entrances to bel-air, so i ended up exploring the neighborhood, admiring the beautiful houses. there was a long downhill street so i took my scooter down relaly slowly, making sure i have enough time to look at each estate i pass by. and just as i reached the interesction at the bottom, i saw something red speed past me. so i literally ran as fast as possible, and finally caught it at a red light (before it left bel-air). so here's the pics.

the $250,000 ferrari 612 scaglietti. not the most beautiful ferrari in my opinion, but still an amazing sight. its my first time ever seeing one on the street, and as with most exotics, pictures simply cannot do it justice. after taking these shots, i finally went back to my dorm fully satisfied =).

06/06: wow, havent updated in a while. so much to say and so little time to say it hehe. to sum up these past few days, i have an 8-page research essay due tomorrow morning, and a 5-page essay due the next day. i was gonna do most of the 8page paper during the weekend, except i totally forgot that the library.ucla online databases are only available at on-campus computers, which means i couldnt get any work done over the weekend. so i came back to school a bit earlier yesterday to get started. and as amazing as it seems, my 8 pages of BS is almost complete. actually its 7-8 pages, and right now i'm one line short of 7 pages hehe. dun worry, that shouldnt be too hard to fill in. its not even 9PM yet and i've been in the lab since like 7:30. but hey, essay's almost done, so i have nothing to complain about. to make things better, i managed to squeeze in a half-hour Sunset walk just before coming to the lab. until today i never realized that 6:30PM is such a good time for carwatching. but yea, took a few nice pics, and i'm gonna post them, as well as some i took last week that i didnt post. i'm trying to group my random car pics into single entries so i wont have to post them every day. but here they are, starting with last week:

LEFT: (monday) 1950s-1962 Bentley S1/S2. this was the Arnage equivalent half a century ago. still a beautiful sight around the streets. (its in Westwood, by the way. my mom was sending me back from school, and when i saw the car (while we were stopped at a red light) i got off the car to take the pic, then went back in the car hehe. MIDDLE: (wednesday) maserati quattroporte. probably not gonna take too many pix of this car cuz i know its gonna soon become very very common. but still its beautiful, and it stopped at the perfect angle so i couldnt resist. RIGHT: (wednesday) dodge viper srt/10. not easy to catch a front-end action shot of one of these, cuz they're usually going really really fast. thank God for red lights =).

soo anyways i was saying how today's little half-hour-long carwatch was pretty amazing. let the pics tell the story =)

LEFT: ferrari 328. kinda hard to tell between a 328 and 308 at this angle, but the shape of the front/rear bumpers seem more 328ish to me. saw this car only about a minute into my walk. the car was going full speed, so the pic turned out a lil blurry. but i think the blurry effects look really really cool, kinda like in nfsu2 when u use NOS hehe... MIDDLE: lamborghini gallardo. again, slightly blurry shot. im not sure wut the lil stars n logos on the side are all about, but either way its a lamborghini so its good enough. RIGHT: believe it nor not, the time has finally come when i got my first front shot of a Maybach 62. gosh its soooooooo beautiful!!! i cant stop staring at it hehe.

anyways, one last thing to say before closing this entry and going back to work on my essay. Four more of my pictures have been selected and posted on exoticspotter.com!! they are: two aston martin db7s (4/27, 5/18), ferrari 360 challenge stradale (4/26), and ferrari 308 (5/11). yes, the one where the driver was staring at me with a strange face hehe. i'm gonna continue submitting a few pics every week, cuz theres still a lot that i think can get selected easily. so yea, drop by the site and check it out =).

06/03: note to self: when you're trying to take pictures of cars and you see a Maybach coming your direction really fast, quit playing with the zoom and take the freakin picture before its too late! why am i such an idiot? =/. oh and by the way, i saw a Murcielago too =). so anyways... rewind a little bit to last night - after leaving the lab, i dropped by 4S and noticed karens door was open. and she was soooooo freakin hyper! haha... shes gonna have a show on UCLA radio and she said i can be on it sometime! *cant wait* hehe... so anyways, back to today. its 9PM and i'm finally starting my english essay thats due on tuesday. thanks judy for constantly asking if i started on it or not, cuz it makes me feel guilty for procrastinating (even though she didnt start either hehe). o.l.t.b.i.s.u., i know a lot of people are leaving for the summer and i really wanna get to hang out with you guys before you leave. but as u probably kno the next few weekends are quite busy for me, so if u wanna do anything please give me a heads up. ok, thats all i wanted to say. essay time!

06/02: seems like forever since i came to this lab hehe. last night i was in my room having fun playing piano (and practicing chorales hehe), and i decided to just screw labtime entirely. unfortunately, yesterday morning i also decided to screw beverly hills trip #2 and postpone it til next week. this weather is really starting to get on my nerves... i really hate it when i go to class and it feels like its gonna rain, then i come out of class and its hot like crazy. weather forecast says 'sunny' all next week. we'll see about that... actually it was sunny yesterday, but only after i finished class and made it back to my room. so since i had absolutely nothing to do for the rest of teh day, i decided to walk to beverly glen for the heck of it. and yes, there were lots of nice cars. most unexpected car i saw was a Smart ForFour. never sold in america, so i dunno how da heck it got there. looks pretty cool though... lets hope it duznt break down, cuz the closest place to order replacement parts is Canada hehe. most amazing car i saw was *drumroll* an aston martin DB9!!! the new one that just came out this year. its soooo beuatiful!!! one of my all-time favorite designs. drove by right next to me!! why didnt i have my camera ready? *crying* owellz maybe next time. so i was on my way back to my room and ran into amy... she called crystal and told her to look out the window and we waved to her hehe. then we all went over to tasha's place to chill for a while. its my first time in courtside this whole schoolyear hehe. guess most of my friends just arent spoiled hehe j/k. so anyways, after dinner i was chillin in my room playing piano when suddenly i heard a knock and opened the door, and there was amy and crystal! can u believe it? they came to visit me!! i cant even remember the last time people came to visit me (ucla people that is) in my room. but yea, they brought me ice cream cake =). and that flower thing was soooo sweet its not even funny! hehe.. so anyways i ended up going downstairs to chill with them in crystal/jessica's place. re-learned how to make cranes, and sean taught us how to make paper roses. gotta learn that one well, cuz it might come in handy someday hehe. then went back to my room n talked with ken on the phone for a long time, then went to sleep. finally, i got some good sleep. the past few days always had a bunch of random distractions that drove me crazy. but even with good sleep, i decided to get up at 8 for breakfast. yea i know, i'm weird and crazy. but hey, gotta use up those swipes =).

today was an awesome day too - english class was soo great... we took a walk to ackerman and back. i got to talk with a lot of people while walking... its almost like recess time during high school when u get to talk to ur classmates outside of class. gosh i really wish we can keep in touch after the quarter's over, cuz this was one of the best classes i ever took and i dun want everyone to just forget each other. next week we're gonna watch Othello and we're all bringing food n stuff for a class party =). i can't wait hehe. so anyways, after class i took Sunset Blvd again, and i made an amazing observation. same day of the week, same time, same Vanquish, two weeks in a row! could this be a trend? and i'm such an idiot... i had my camrea ready, the car stopped at a redlight, and i cant believe i MISSED. i gues my fingers werent warmed up hehe. but next week i'll be there again at the same time. it was a really cool vanquish too, custom rims n everything. so anyways, enough said about cars. catalyst was awesome too... it was our last time leading worship this schoolyear. but we'll be playing at catalina too. which reminds me, i gotta turn in my registration form hehe. but its ok i still have like aw eek. so anyways, after catalyst i dropped by Yune's place to help her install NFSU2 hehe. shes been wanting it for soo long and finally got it. didnt have time to show her how it works yet, but so far shes havin trouble driving in a straight line hehe. n then emily came back and went to bruin cafe. then i came to the lab, and you know the rest. i think i might actually get out of here before 11 today. in fact i think i will =)

05/31: another awesome day =). its tuesday, which means i got to eat lunch with kat! i was about to go up the elevator to my room, drop my stuff off, and call her and say 'its tuesday, and its lunchtime...' and have her finish the rest of the sentence. but she beat me to the call by a few minutes and said 'its tuesday', and i ended up having to finish hehe. but yea, we lunched @ rieber then walked to class. theory class was totally awesome, even though i wasnt exaclty 'happy' when i left to go back to sproul (dun worry, its a good thing i wasnt happy hehe). for the second half of class, jonathan decided to take us out to the botanical garden. its the second time i've been there (first time was last year during earth sci), and i really dun know why i never went there myself this past year since i love the place so much. its like a little jungle full of stuff to explore, and i totally love that atmosphere. a lot of people go there to meditate n stuff... i should seriously go too hehe. its such an awesome place. so anyways, there was this lil amphitheater place and we all sat down and did our sightsinging - in groups! so it was actually harmonized - and even though most of us really cant sing, i hafta admit it sounded sooo great. i got 'randomly' paired with trapani, so we decided to do solfege. we kinda missed the rhythm at the end so we slowed down unintentionally. when jonathan (who sang the top part with deena) asked us what happened at the end, i suddenly noticed the 'poco ritardando' marking at the part where we slowed down. what an amazing save =). hehe anyways, theres a reason today's class was so special - next week is our final, which means today was our last actual class meeting. even after class was dismissed, almost everyone stayed there at the garden, and some of us went up and continued singing songs we all knew, making up harmony on the spot. it wasnt perfect, but we were definitely having fun. jonathan, who also stuck around, took us down to the pond to look at the turtles and fishes. there were sooo many of them... danielle tried so long to pick up a turtle, and then she finally got one and placed it on the bridge. but then it started panicking and started running (yes, turtles can run hehe) and it fell off the bridge and fell back in the water! poor thing =(. but yea, everyone in my class knows about my weird thing about turtles on all my assignments. today we didnt do dictation, so i didnt get to turn in any turtles. and jonathan even pointed that out when we were heading to the pond. we (90% of the class) ended up staying there for about 45 minutes. then we began the walk back to schoenberg, with people branching off and saying goodbye one by one as they went their own ways. To me it was a really surreal moment - as I walked with my classmates who have all become friends after being together for three quarters, i looked back at how far i've come in this incredible journey that God is taking me through. it's so hard to believe that even in a college class people can really emotional. if i was by myslef at that moment i probably would have cried - such an atmosphere of love was simply too wonderful to be true - love for one another as well as a common love for music.

anyways, back to reality - i'm sitting in the computer lab finishing up my jazz essay, so i really shouldnt let myself get overly emotional right now. and of course, there's a smoothie sitting on the floor next to me. amazing how i still wanted that smoothie so badly even though i had a huge dinner at deneve. i got to meet two of annie's friends today - midori and . i knew i was gonna forget her name =/. soo hard to remember but i'll figure it out someday =). i actually had to stand outside the lab for about half n hour before getting the spot where i'm at right now. it really sucks when they close half the lab for workshops and everyone else has to wait in line to use what's left of the computers. tomorrow covel is gonna be closed entirely (for gamefest), but at least they posted an early notice (which i REALLY appreciate), so either i'll find myself another place (denever or rieber) or i wont go at all. we'll see... so anyways, on top of everything i already mentioned, there were several other highlights today - a phantom, a maybach, an f430, and more. its a sunny day, and those millionaires all unleashed their rides on the streets. i spent a lot of time just walking around the sidewalk looking at cars and thinking about random stuff. recently i've been spending a LOT of time thinking about the reasons for my brokened laptop (which i havent mentioned in a very very long time). i learned a lot of really amazing things, which i'm definitely gonna post as an entry once i get my thoughts together. today i called dell and ordered my new hard drive - the correct one. but i'm not gonna let myself believe that its gonna solve the problem entirely. only god knows exactly wuts gonna happen. maybe even after i put that thing in my computer, its still gonna have problems. i definitely hope not, but if thats the way it needs to be, im not gonna complain. i'll just wait n see wut happens, and believe that its happening for a reason.

i'm gonna end with one last thing - and trust me this is gonna be good. as of yesterday, four of my car pictures have already been selected and are now posted on exoticspotter.com!! both of the continental GTs are on there (the one at 99 ranch market and the one at HWL plaza), along with the front view of the ferrari 575M (on wilshire blvd) and the aerial view of the 512BBi. i'm gonna send in another batch this weekend and see if they wanna post any more. and of course, i'm gonna continue taking pictures when i get the chance. actually, i already planned another trip to rodeo drive for tomorrow, except earlier tonight i was lookin at the sky and it doesnt seem to be supportive of my plan. so yea, same rule as last time. when i leave for class tomorrow, if the sky is blue (or mostly blue), then off to beverly hills i go. if its white, screw it. i have a pretty bad feeling about this, but owellz... theres always next week. for now, i'm just really excited that i made it on the site. go check it out, theres a lot of amazing pics there. meanwhile im gonna go back to my room and do some reading for english. byebye!

05/30: i woke up with no expectations for today, since i called karin last night to make sure we're still gonna hang out today only to find that she already made other plans (unfortunately but honestly, i'm really not surprised). then everything turned around when jeff (who was supposed to hang out with us too) called to see if i wanted to get lunch, and told me he was already on his way to pick me up. a few minutes later i was on the car (his awesome riced up accord hehe) with my high school buddy =). i got to meet his other friends roger jeff n daniel. turns out roger goes to rowland and knows carol! we have so much in common - he also rides a scooter, and he also plays nfsu2! thats soo awesome =). so of course, i had a great time at lunch. came home afterwards only cuz i had to start packing for school (the other guys all went out afterwards). jeff came over to chill at my place for a while... he wrote a piano piece a long time ago (junior-senior year i think) but lost the score, and the funny thing is that i still have the copy he gave me a few years ago hehe. so of course made him a copy of it =). then after he left my mom suggested taking me n carol to santa monica on the way to ucla. only problem is that we left at like 3, i had to get back to school at like 5ish (cuz i had worship practice at 6), and plus there was traffic. so halfway to santa monica we decided to head back and just go to ucla for dinner. we just cruised down santa monica blvd and i saw some pretty amazing stuff. first was a Ford GT, but it was at a dealer so its not THAT big of a deal. (just like exoticspotter.com says, it only counts when its on the street! hehe). then a few stoplights later, i saw somethign black and low coming the opposite direction. it has a really really long front end with a 3-pointed star at the front. any guesses? hehe... believe it or not, I SAW A MERCEDES SLR MCLAREN. that thing was sooooo beautiful!!! too bad it was a greenlight otherwise i would have jumped off the car and ran over for a pic. come on, its freakin $450,000!!! yup, new record for most expensive car i ever saw on the street. so yea, that totally made my day. made it back to ucla in time for dinner @ covel, then i went to worship practice - last practice of the quarter! *sniFf* owellz... had a lot of fun playing keyboard drums hehe (cuz jared wuznt at practice and i felt like the osngs really needed drums). practice was really really short... i was back in my room at 8 drinking french vanilla tea =). and i used that time (before coming to lab) to call Lucy, who i havent talked to in the longest time. i found out earlier today that shes moving to philadelphia this summer. *about to cry* we HAVE TO hand out before u leave! anyways then i went to the lab and guess wut... it was closed! stupid holiday hehe. i would have gone back to my room, but since i had to do my jazz essay (due wendesday), i went to the rieber lab instead. its not really even a lab.. just a bunch of computers crammed into a study lounge. but hey, at least i can get online and do my essay. its like halfway done now. i'll finish it tomorrow. for now, time to go back to my room, do some reading for english class, then sleep. byebye!

05/29: *yAwN* i'm soo tired its not even funny... went to church @ 7:30 for chinese worship with gilbert's team. but it was fun =). so anyways, rewind back to friday night at 10:30ish... i was in my room and heard a bunch of really loud engines outside, so i decided to take a look. one guy down the street was having a huge party and the whole street was filled with cars, including several really nice rice rockets. so of course, i went outside for some pictures =).

this is one of very few times i write an entry about Rice Rockets. and i dont use 'rice rocket' as a derogatory term at all, cuz i'm azn after all =). the only thing i really hate about ricers is the way they mercilessly blast their exhaust and subwoofers without thinking about people around them, and the way they drive on the street like its a racetrack. other than that, i really respect them for their understanding of how to tune and design cars, and for all the time and money they spent personalizing their rides. and i hafta admit that those cars definitely look cool. so anyways, the next morning a few of them were still left so i took some more pics =)

the 3rd pic was actually taken a few months ago (the guy is my neighbor hehe) but i never bothered posting it until now. i still find it ridiculous that the amount of money spent making a good ricerocket (good looks and good performance) can easily buy a Porsche. but then again, some people like to stand out, and in that sense those ricers are doing a great job =).

so anyways, yesterday morning i went to teach piano, then came back for a quick lunch, then went to tutor dennis (math). gave myself a really good trig review hehe. then in the evening i went to pick up rose to go hang out.. we had Crepe again hehe. then i went to treat myself to a boba @ quickly's cuz its like less than a dollar =). went to church @ 6 to practice with gilbert's team. i finally got to try playing phantom of the opera on the big organ. its soo fun! im soo gonna learn the whole organ solo someday =). anyways, we finished practicing at like 8:30ish, so since its early me n rose went to lfe plaza. the remodeling is already done (soo fast!) and it looks really cool =). we ordered appetizers (tempura n squid) and chilled there for like two hours hehe. got home pretty late but it was worth it =). but of course, sleeping late last night and waking up at 6:30Am today really isnt too helpful. sunday school was good and bad - bad in the sense that i was the only one there, but good because i learn so much more through a one-on-one conversation. its really not all that scary being the only one there, and it was great getting to talk to james a lot. kelley called me in the morning and said she had to show me something at church, so i went to find her after service and guess wut she showed me - a brand new scion xA!! and the she took out the key! haha... its the new blue limited edition one too! im looking forward to getting a ride in it sometime soon =). but seriously she never told me she was getting a car!! i was soo surprised hehe ok anyways, i spent the next hour or so playing piano n then went downstairs for claymusic rehearsal. cant believe i actually remember most of the songs still hehe. saturday's event is gonna be a dinner in Torrance. they supposedly have good food hehe. anyways, as u probably figured, i was about to die of exhaustion by the time practice was almost over. but then suddenly steph lin shows up cuz she has orchestra stuff. so we talked for a while and that totally woke me up=). she even gave me wuts left of her cup of boba!! yummy... n then i went home and ran straight for bed, where i stayed for the next couple hours hehe. still kinda dizzy now but i'll probably sleep earler tonight anyways. so yea, time to shut up now. byebye!

05/27: a few minutes ago Family Feud asked the question 'name a country where auto racing is a big sport'. one guy answered 'south africa'. SOUTH AFRICA!!!??? wut was that foo thinking? hahaha anyways... now for the real entry. i didnt post yesterday cuz i wanted to wait til i get home so i can reunite with my CompactFlash reader and upload a few pics. so yesterday i called mike and turns out i didnt have to play for worship this week. (by the way: as most people already know, i only check email from 9-11PM every night, so if u have to tell me something important, same-day emails probably wont get the info to me on time). so i ended up excusing myself from catalyst... come on, its just this once! i dont ditch unless theres a good reason. and last night i definitely had a good reason - its the Carnival of Desserts!! i didnt go to last year's, and i had no idea wut i missed out on until last night. heres a few pix:

never seen this many people here before. its a lot of fun though, cuz theres so many people so everywhere i go i run into familiar faces. so after dinner with the gang, we got our dessert tickets (freakin vincent got TWENTY instead of 10 haha). actually, the long lines at each booth shouldnt be surprising, cuz anytime college students hear the word "free", theres gonna be a big turnout, especially if the free stuff is good. in this case, it's free snow cones, popcorn, cotton candy, caramel apple, root beer float, pretzels, churros, and more. if that duznt sound good, you're way too spoiled. and yes, we were all too spoiled last night - so much desserts that we didnt even want any more. hehe... funniest thing is when i ran into shannon and we both started laughing sooo hard... turns out shannon couldnt make worship practice on monday either, and so after mike told her and me that we didnt have to play for catalyst, we both decided to not show up at all *innocent smile* hehe. and then kat appeared and said hi to me, and shannon was like 'you know her?' and kat was like 'you know her!?' hahaha... turns out they know each other from Scattertones. such a small world hehe. by the way, the pics i took of the carnival are all high resolution, and i spent some time looking through it to find people i know, and actually found a few =). im sure theres more if i look harder hehe. but anyways, carnival ended when it was getting dark, then raffle started. vincent won a basketball hoop but he didnt have his ticket =/. the prizes were sooo insane - digital cameras, boomboxes, an XBOX, and of course, the MUG BUG. oh by the way, i ran into crystal too. turns out she actually sold the bug back to the carnival, so its the exact same car! now that its in new hands, i dunno if i'm ever gonna see it again *sniff*. but dont worry, next year i'm gonna swipe the life outta my bruincard during mugbug week and make sure i win something =). anyways, the whole thing ended at like 9:30ish, so i went to the lab for a while. as i mentioned above, i didnt update cuz i wanted to wait for the pix. but of course, those two arent the ONLY pics i'm posting. unless of course you thought all those carwatching trips this past week resulted in complete failure. if thats wut u thought, ur WRONG. hehe... in fact, here's some pics to prove you wrong =)

First Picture: it shouldnt be a surprise if u read my earlier entries this week, but here's a Maybach 62. and yea it turned out to be a butt shot. but better than nothing right? amazing how this car was only about 20 feet away from the last maybach i took a picture of. i swear one of these days i'm gonna get a closer shot of one of these babys... letting two slip by right next to me is too much! hehe... Second Picture: porsche 356. i'm not sure exactly which model, its kinda hard to tell. but still, these things are pretty hard to find, especially one in good condition considering its about 40 years old. Third Picture: now this one SHOULD be a surprise cuz i didnt mention anything about it before. and once again, i let it slip by without getting a closer shot (this pic is actual size, cropped from the original shot). i swear i turned around and looked behind me about every 5 seconds. maybe thats not enough hehe. oh by the way it's an Aston Martin V12 Vanquish. the top model in the aston martin lineup, it costs around $240,000. its only the second one i saw on the streets, and i hope to see more in the near future.

and yes, i mean NEAR future. earlier this afternoon i was surfing the web and came to an amazing discovery - i'm not the only one on this planet who has an obsession for seeing exotic cars on the street! if u dont believe me, go to www.exoticspotter.com, a site dedicated to photos of exotic cars outside the showroom, acknowledging that "Too often exotic cars are viewed behind a plate-glass window or roped off at car shows. There's something very sterile about this experience. The beauty of an exotic is felt most when they are spotted on the streets, side-by-side with regular cars. A true diamond in the rough" (exoticspotter.com). if i hadnt discovered this site, i would have probably ended up making my own, with a very similar welcome message. the most awesome thing is that this site accepts photo submissions, and to be honest, some of my pics are a lot nicer (quality/angle) than the ones other people submitted. thats probably cuz most of them took the pics through the windshield while driving, but i take my pics on foot, so theres a lot more freedom in how i want my shots to turn out. and of course, i already submitted several pics. so far i sent two Continental GTs (10/15/04 & 4/22/05 entries), the orange suped-up NSX (2/15/05), the ferrari 575 maranello (5/18/05) and the 512bbi (5/18/05). they dont have a single pic of a 512bbi yet, so mine might be the first ones =). they review new submissions and post the selected pics once a week. if any of my pics do make the site, i'll be sure to write about it here =). i dont wanna bombard them with a billion pics all at once, so maybe i'll submit more next week. but it's definitely good to know i'm not the only crazy carfreak alive. in fact, if i'm not too busy next week, i hear Rodeo Drive calling my name. no promises on that yet though... we'll see what happens. but for now, i'm gonna shut up about cars.

O.l.t.b.i.s.u, i was on my way to getting a haircut earlier this afternoon and saw something amazing (not car-related, dont worry hehe). oh by the way, "oltbisu" means "one last thing before i shut up", cuz i say that so much hehe. so i was on the top of the hill and saw a roadrunner on the street and i didnt want to run it over so i slowed down, and guess what i saw... next to the roadrunner was about a dozen baby roadrunners!!! they were all wandering around aimlessly around their mommy. gosh i wish i brought my camera. i actually biked up there later but they werent there anymore =/. owellz... i'm gonna shut up now. byebye

05/25: its been 46 hours since i last looked at a computer screen hehe. didnt have labtime yesterday but it was for a good cause. in fact, these past few days have been absolutely amazing. just little things here n there that leave me in a really good mood. starting yesterday morning - as you probably know, ive been going on lots of random short carwatching trips lately, and i figured since my english class (9 in the morning) was in north campus, might as well walk on Sunset. and seeing aston martins n bentleys is definitely a good way to kick off the day. i went back on campus just in time to run into liz n candace and walk with them for a while. and i was ALMOST late to class (for the first time hehe) cuz i left my room too late. but i stilll beat the TA hehe. english class was awesome too... group activities always make me happy =). judy totallly scared me when she told me the 8 page essay is due next week. its actually two weeks hehe (thank God). but i also have to do my jazz paper, so im not exactly off the hook. so anyways, then after class i went on Sunset again (its kinda on the way back to sproul anyways hehe). i did take a picture of one car, but it came as such a surprise so it probably turned out to be one of those far street shots (i left my CF reader at home so i wont be able to post it (or even see it) until i go home on friday). so wut car was it? all im gonna say is its 6.2 meters long and has fully reclining rear passenger seats. hehe... that thing is sooo beautiful... i think the pic i took is a direct butt shot though but owellz. hope it turned out well. anyways, then went back to my room just in time for a call from kat to go to lunch. from now on we're gonna have lunch together every tuesday =). this is soo great!! i havent had weekly lunch buddies in sooo long! too bad theres only like two more weeks of school left =/ hehe owellz. walked with kat to schoenberg for theory... once again, insane sightsinging stuff. me n trapani both gave up on solfege hehe. in the afternoon i found a lil corner by Sunset where i could work on my Invention (due today) and watch cars at the same time. saw a Phantom =). didnt get a pic though =/. but i got my invention done... thats the most important thing. then vincent called me for dinner with our gang... had another awesome hour-long dinner =). got bak to my room and cleaned it up a bit, cuz i finally had visitors!! yupyup, baldwin n nolan came to visit me! =). we chilled in my room for a while then went to bruin cafe. i found out i still have 80 swipes left (!!!). i swear i thought it was only like 50 or 40. owellz guess im gonna start going smoothie-crazy again... (i'm drinking a #7 right now as i type =) ). so yea, anyone need swipes, feel free to call me! hehe n then steph came over to join us too and we went to westwood to get diddy riese (yummy!). thanks nolan for treating everybody =). (yes, a $1 ice cream sandwitch means a lot to me, ok? gosh all you rich spoiled people hehe). found out that nolan's a car freak too... he even offered to take me to Concours on Rodeo next month. too bad its the day i leave for catalina so i wont be able to go *soooo sad*. maybe next year? hehe... so anyways then we walked back to campus and chilled at steph n gloria's room for the rest of the night. as steph said, it felt like open-mic time at retreat hehe. but it was awesome... baldwin n nolan left at around midnight... thanx again for visiting =). after they left i called kathie back, chatted for a few minutes until i found kat @ puzzle's (bruin cafe was closed already. i'm usually never up late enough to see that hehe) cuz she needed help with her Invention. after she checked out the sproul practice key they lost her bruincard! haha luckily they found it when we went back there. so yea, did a few minutes of Invention stuff, went back to my room at around 1. *yAwN* hehe...

the next morning (today): somehow managed to roll out of bed for breakfast at 9 with steph n crystal (stephs roomie). spent the next couple hours (before class) adding a couple finishing touches to my Invention. took Sunset to class again, didnt see much though. today's weather is bad for carwatching. (seriously... dont think i'm crazy. when the sky is covered in clouds, there isnt a single ferrari on the street). after theory class i did the randomest thing - i went to the park! haha... yupyup, Holmby Park, same place i saw the Corniche last time. really nice n peaceful place... mostly just old rich people walking around in circles. spent some time relaxing n praying... then got a call from Kelley (which was a big surprise considering how much she calls me hehe). she called just to say hi =). (gosh i love it when people do that!!) so yea, i walked around the park for a while, then went up to Sunset for a couple more car pics on my way back to Sproul. so its not exaclty a carwatching trip... just a random excursion away from campus hehe. i only went back cuz i knew i would be screwed for class tomorrow if i didnt practice my Chorales. this weeks is soo hard! i'm still not ready yet =/. hopefully i'll be ready before class tomorrow. ohh and i talked with karin on the phone!! it was her bday yesterday but i didnt have time to call *feels bad* so i called today. anna n jeff were there too! i told karin to tell jeff i said hi and he was like 'uh...' haha. is it that weird that i'm saying hi? anyways, then i went to dinner with the gang again (even though they didnt exaclty invite me... i somehow knew they were in rieber (thanx emily) hehe). we had the weirdest conversations ever hehe. and on the way out Yune totally lost her mind... she called hilltop "de neve" and said she needed a horse to get back to her room. wut da heck?? hahaha it was hilarious =). anyways, back in my room i spent more time doing hardcore Chorale practicing hehe (STILL not really ready but i'm getting there). dropped by Jessica's place to see her new haircut =). then came to lab. ran into Ryan on the way n chatted for a while. and that brings us to the present - sitting here in front of the computer writing this entry hehe. before i shut up, lemme mention a few things i'm looking forward to-

Tomorrow night: MUG BUG 2005!!! and Carnival of Desserts, even though im not gonna be there for the food part cuz i'll be at IV. but i'm gonna leave right after IV and make it for the raffle. for those of you who think its a stupid waste of time, you have two options. 1) give me your tickets =). 2) take my word and be there at the raffle, cuz chances of winning are really high. last year i know sooo many people that won random stuff like free movie tickets n stuff. and of course, i'll never forget what Crystal won (for those who dont know, she won a freakin CAR (the mug bug)!!!) so yea, lemme know if ur gonna be there =).

June 4 (saturday): ClayMusic concert!! havent had one of those in the longest time... we're gonna rehearse again this sunday after church. ohh and jacob got a case for the RS70!! hes gonna bring it to church on sunday, cant wait to see it =). finally the RS duznt have to travel around naked anymore! hehe... but of course, i better start practicing Psalm 8 cuz i totally dont remember that jazz solo!

June 10 (friday): Theory class party @ Jonathan's!! another reason why its great being a music major - how many chemistry TAs will throw a party at his apartment for the whole class? hehe... and yes, i'm gonna stay at school until friday late night (after my mom's cellgroup). so i'll probably leave the party early, but at least im gonna show up (come on, its the last time i'm gonna see my theory friends other than to take the final! hehe).

wow... this was one long entry... i should seriously shut up huh? its 11 right now, and i think those bach chorales are calling my name. and im gonna sleep really early to make up for the last few days. i'm actually getting breakfast at 8 tomorrow at de neve (my first time eating breakfast there this schoolyear! hehe). if i finish early enough, i'll probably take Sunset to english class again =). so yea, time for me to get out of this lab and let my eyes rest. goodnight!

05/23: wow its been a while since i updated. sorry... its been another busy weekend. soo much stuff to write about, i'm not even sure i can remember it all. but i'll try my best =). friday - went to pick up carol after school and brought her n lawrence to the photo studio to pick their prom pics. on the way back i was such an idiot when i decided to make a random turn and get caught in construction traffic. owellz hehe then saturday - went to lunch at the mall with mommy n carol after teaching piano. we went to costco and while waiting for checkout, some old lady in front of us bought like 2837492374 packs of tortillas. it was sooo insane!! imagine getting enough beans to fill them all... *holds nose and runs* hehe anyways then went back home to start on my Invention homework. meanwhile some idiot next door decided to hold down the horn on their car for the longest time, until i ran outside and went SHUT UP!! (yes for those of u who didnt know, i do have a mean side, usually for people who are really disrepectful). and they stopped for a few minutes then continued again so i opened the garage and stormed outside, then they finally shutted up. hehe... so i attempted the Invention, which turned out to be an hour-long nap on the couch next to the piano hee. then i got steph lin's call (which i've been waiting for). it was her long-awaited birthday celebration, and a bunch of them already spent the day at six flags. i went to meet with them @ olive garden... while waiting outside kathie attempted to take a nap on my lap and then suddenly steph called my cell n it started vibrating right under her head n she totally freaked out! hahaha anyways... dinner was pretty good. there were a bunch of random problems though, and it eventually caused more than half the table to filter out and leave. but i was one of the five that stayed til the end =). got to meet christina, and apparently everything she says seems to get interuupted by someone/something hehe. at the end me n ken went to chill at christinas house... her backyard has like a lil aquarium lake thingy with over a hundred fish... thats so cool! hehe but i still feel bad for staying over so late =/. we had so much to talk about though... and christinas brother plays NFSU2!!! gOsh i havent played for 8 weeks already... *sniff* owellz... then sunday (yesterday) i was really late to sunday school (sleeping past 2AM makes it really hard to wake up in the morning hehe)... afterwards i went searching for an empty piano room as usual and bumped into esther so we chatted for a while (dont forget to wish her a happy late birthday! hehe). spent the afternoon with ken and we talked about a lot of stuff... then went for a late lunch at Golden City. and guess who owns that place - christina's family! we went at like 2:30 cuz then there wont be a lot of people so she can actually sit down n chill. i got my shrimp fried rice as usual =). (come on, theres nothing wrong with plain food! hehe). then i went home to do more Invention stuff... finally made some good progress. then went to steph (li)s house to do some planning for our potential summer job =). i'm so excited (and a bit nervous) about it.. hopefully it works out well. more details to come on that later. then wnet home, did MORE invention stuff. didnt bother with dinner cuz i wasnt hungry after eating lunch til 4 hehe. got bak to school a little before 11. pretty late i kno... and to make things worse, i reached into my pocket to take out my bruincard and IT WASNT THERE. howard had to scan it for some passport thingy and i totally forgot to take it out of the scanner (cuz my bruincard never leaves my pocket on weekends except when buying movie tickets hehe). my mom drove all the way to ucla to bring it to me. thanks sooooo much!!! =). meanwhile i didnt wanna bother with stupid building security crap (its the worst feeling ever to be rejected from where you live... i didnt even wanna think about it) so i dropped by the lab for a couple seconds just to check email n stuff. then went to join vincent sara n kitty upstairs in a study room. they werent even studying haha. somehow kitty n i started talking about david benoit and i told her how i got to meet him / perform with him a bunch of times and vincent was like 'how the hell were you EVER an engineer?' seriously... how!? hahaha so i chilled with them til my mom came with my bruincard. i dont think she checks my homepage (hehe) but thanks again!!! so yea... finally went back to my room (11:50ish) to go sleep. i closed the window cuz there were these morons outside that were sooo loud and it was making me go insane. n then kevin came back, stayed in the room for a few minutes, opened the window, and then left! ayia... haha i cant really complain cuz he had no clue how loud those people were. so after much hesitation i finally decided to get up and shut the window again... so basically i wasted probably over an hour lying there unable to sleep. owellz... one night isnt really gonna kill... but if i hear those same morons again tonight i'm gonna go down there and tell them to shut up, and if they dont then um... nevermind, i almost forgot i'm still trying to learn to control my anger hehe. its usually never that loud anyways...

even though i didnt sleep much, at least i was still able to get breakfast with vanessa n brianna at 8:15. its been so long since we had breakfast together (cuz they have work in the morning now so they eat earlier). will was also there and joined us too =). n then i went back to my room and finished that Invention just in time to go to class. fast forward four hours - after class i decided to swing by kerchoff to search for info on jazz performances (cuz i have to write a concert report for history of jazz class and its due next wednesday), and thank god i looked, cuz there was a performance at the coffeehouse TONIGHT. and when i called them they said tonight is the last show. unfortunately that meant i had to miss worship practice =/. so i called mike and he said its ok, and i'm still gonna play on thursday =). so the performance was um... pretty good i guess. trapani was there too so i actually had some company. i'm not gonna bother writing details on the performance cuz im gonna save that for my essay hehe. (somehow im gonna hafta come up with 5 pages of BS!) we stayed for the first half then left cuz we already wrote down everything we could about the band's style n stuff. i went back to my room to get my stuff n go to the lab... ran into thao on the way down (i love the second floor hehe) and i ended up walking with her to powell (i wasnt in any rush hehe). that leaves me with just enough labtime to write this entry hehe. so yea, i guess this is the part where i shut up. ok, byebye! *shuts up*

05/19: totally awesome day... first of all, my legs dont hurt nearly as badly as i thought they would. just a little bit sore, but walking is no problem. actually my butt hurts too hehe. i guess its the same muscle or sumthin... anyways like every thursday morning this quarter, i get out of bed just in time for english 4w. funny how the class's attendance is gradually decreasing as the quarter progresses... in the beginning the last few people dont even have chairs. now the room is like a third empty. but its still a fun class... so today we were doing 'shakespearean idol' - john divided the class into 4 groups and we were each assigned a part of Othello to read & act. he brought up the idea of doing the performance outside on the Perloff steps, and i was like 'yesss!!!' (even though i get so nervous pefroming hehe). a lot of other people wnated to go outside too, and others were kinda scared of embarassment. we took a vote and it was a tie, so john gave the final vote and we went outside =). gosh im always so happy when i get to have class outside the classroom. and plus i had an awesome group - me jeewon ana and emily. i'm probably the worst reader/actor of them all... im trying to sound evil as Iago but its so hard hehe. our scene involved a litle fighting between emily n ana, and they went n found sticks to use as swords. the fight scene was soo awesome! turns out emily took fencing lessons before hehe. so yea, all four groups took turns performing, and at the end john made us close our eyes n vote for the best group (the shakespearean idol hehe). and guess who won... GROUP ONE (my group)!!! yaaay!!! i was seriou5ly so surprised, cuz i know i sucked. we totally couldnt believe we won. and our prize was chocolate!! yummy =). anyways, then came back to sproul n frantically practiced keyboard. ran into thao on the way to lunch n talked for a long time =). n then after lunch i was about to leave and ran into annie (not the one i met this week and not the one from theory... gosh i just realized i have 5 friends named annie hehe. dun worry, you're all special! =) ). ran into yune too... i totally wanted to stay n hang out but i had to go to class. so today we had to play the bass and say the chord for all the progressions.. it was insane! i cant believe i still finished early hehe. its kinda nice when the rest of the class is all scared to go first, cuz i can just go sit there and take my time and play really really really slowly until i get it perfect. but i really doubt i got a perfect overall score today... stupid 8-measure dictation - that was WAAY too insane! i find it hard to believe that anyone can get it down perfectly. those triplets totally threw me off, im sure i missed at least two or three areas. owellz... not like its gonna affect my grade anyways hehe (the 96 on my midterm is currently my lowest grade on any theory assignment this quarter =) ). ohh and we got our Invention subjects back. lefko pointed out that one of my motifs sounds really familiar. and then i looked at it and realized it is pretty similiar to invention #8 (f major). oops... come on its not THAT similar! but at least it didnt cost me any points.

fast forward a few hours and i'm in rolfe 1200 getting ready for catalyst worship. so we've always had the idea of doing a song after catalyst ends but for some reason it never happen. on monday during practice i started doing one of my sporadic improvisations and played a jazzed up version of 'renuevame'. n then jared joined in on the drums and everyone else joined in and *pOoF* we decided to play it after catalyst! too bad we didnt get to do it today, but at least everyone approves of the idea now, and we're all pretty excited about it. maybe next week? hehe... n then after catalyst i talked with hannaf n brianna for a long time... i dont think i've ever talked that long after catalyst... usually i just wander around and say hi to random people and then eventually leave when theres nobody else to say hi to. but yea, i've been trying a lot harder these days to contribute to the iv (sproul) community, and i'm already looking forward to dinner on monday hehe. so anyways, walked back to sproul with brianna n then came to the lab. i just realized that i already have a personalized wallpaper n settings on more than half the computers in covel east (the lab i usually use). that shows how often i come here hehe. but yea... i think i'm done babbling. this is a VERY short entry compared to yesterday's. at least it didnt take me two hours to write and post. hehe... so yea i guess i'll shut up now. its almost 11 and i should get outta here. byebye!

05/18: if you read the last entry and saw the sunny sky when you woke up this morning, you're probably expecing a post full of pictures. and thats exactly wut ur gonna get =). i'm actually having a really hard time deciding which ones to post cuz i dont wanna bombard my site with too many pics but at the same time theres so many good ones i cant choose! hehe so anyways, at 11AM i began the long journey, stopping at Schoenberg for four hours of class. that was the only time i sat down; after class i headed out and didnt let my butt rest on anything until 6PM when i returned to Sproul. thinking about it now, its amazing that i actually made it back in one piece. altogether i walked a good 10 miles today - 7 miles to beverly hills and back (round trip), plus an hour of circling the 90210 blocks nonstop. the longest i stopped at any location was probably 2 or 3 minutes - there's just sooo much to look at. so ur probably wondering - were those 10 miles (and the blisters on my feet) really worth it? i'll let you decide that for yourself. but let me say one thing - the cars i photographed today total over THREE MILLION DOLLARS. i'll let the pictures tell the story...

after about 20 minutes of navigating through the neighborhood (its the shortest way), i finally arrived at wilshire blvd. only seconds later i see this ferrari 575 maranello. and with the help of a very cooperative red light, i got to take pics of this car for the first time. within the next few minutes i saw a bentley arnage and an aston martin db7. and this was still in westwood too! but it defintely got me pumped up for the longest part of the walk, which would take me past the border into the heart of beverly hills. upon arriving at santa monica blvd, i saw a car dealer ahead of me and went up for a closer look. it's called Royal Motors - definitely NOT your ordinary car dealer. see it for yourself:
across from left to right: rolls-royce phantom, ferrari 360 spider, porshe 997 cabrio, bentley continental gt, ferrari 360, maserati coupe, hummer h1, mercedes-benz slk. im not gonna post closeups of every car, cuz i've posted most of them before. but that red spider is simply beautiful. and the phantom? its $330,000, go figure. even if i decided to stop there and head home, the trip would be worth it already.

so i entered the famous 90210 shopping district (rodeo drive, etc) and began scouting every corner for nice cars - the underground parking structures are a great place to look hehe. but of course, its always more fun seeing the cars on the street. at one point i saw a Phantom (driving on the street!) with a Maranello right behind it. how crazy is that!? it would have been a heck of a nice picture, and i attempted to run and catch them at the next light, but too bad that light wasnt very cooperative and let both cars slip by. anyways, time for more pics:

a couple superluxury cars. left: rolls-royce silver spur. i saw several of these, but one pic is enough right? right: bentley arnage red label. actually there was another one a few cars ahead, but again, just one will do, especially when i'm already posting waay too many pics for one entry. that duznt mean i'm gonna stop though =)

dodge viper srt/10 and lamborghini gallardo. apparently lamborghinis are much much much more rare than ferraris, cuz this is the first one i've seen since i started going on carwatching expeditions.

three aston martin DB7 vantages. and dont say i cant count. on the first pic if u look realy really closely, theres another one (also a volante) on the street... its kinda squished between the white car and the pole (its a lot more obvious on the full-size picture). but still how cool is that? TWO aston martins on the street in one picture. anyways... let me give you a quick break from car pictures:
a really really cool/strange looking house. its a lot more interesting seeing it in person. but still... its the first time i've seen something like that outside of disneyland. (reminds me of alice in wonderland hehe). ok, time for more cars. dont worry i'm almost done. theres only one marque i havent covered in depth. you probably know wut it is already.
remember i once said that theres gonna be ferraris parked along the street? well here it is - a beautiful 512BBi. i actually saw it circling the blocks several times but couldnt catch it, and then it finally found a parking space =). the second picture is NOT cropped, and i didnt even use zoom. thats how close i was to the car =). and the third pic is definitely unique too - an aerial view! i was on the 4th or 5th floor of a parking structure and decided to get another shot of the car even though i took so many already (i'm only posting these few hehe). but come on, is one ferrari really enough? (actually two, including the maranello earlier. or four if u count the ones at the dealer). at last, this super-long post has reached its end, cuz these are the last two pics!
left: 550 maranello with custom chrome rims. right: f430. yes, i saw an f430. it just came out like a few months ago, and i saw one already. from far away it looked like a modena, but then i noticed the enzo-like rear... it took me a few moments to identify it as an f430, but immediately i started running... (i was standing in a little park kinda area) and i got there just in time to take a pic and hear that amazing engine as it drove along.

so yea, thats it for today. i'm definitely more than satisfied already. so will i ever consider walking so far agaiN? definitely =). but probably not anytime soon, cuz if i wait long enough, maybe Royal Motors wil have new inventory when i go again =). actually, i was only about 5 minutes away from beverly hills ferrari/maserati. i checked their inventory online and u kno wut they have? an ENZO. i'm not kidding... and of course, there's the exoticar gallery which is only one block farther than where i went. i'm definitely gonna go there someday.... but for now, lemme knock myself back to reality - its almost midnight (yes, it took me over two hours to organize those pics and post this entry), and i'm still in the lab. and i still have to finish reading a little shakespeare for tomorrow's english class. and the worst thing is this - i know that tomorrow when i wake up, i'm NOT gonna be able to walk normally. it might take a day or two to recover. but the pictures should be sufficient proof that it's all worth it =). ok, i'm gonna get started on shakespeare now. byebye!

05/17: sorry i havent exactly updated in the past few days. didnt have much time to sit at the computer and relax. but hey at least my 5-page essay is finally done =). so anyways, sunday at church we had a special speaker, Yoko, for sunday school. her testimony is soooo amazing. its so good that they made her tell it again during service. church was kinda lonely though cuz its one of those days when so few people were there, and everyone just kinda filtered out and disappeared right after service ended. so i dissapeared and went home too. got all my stuff packed up, then went to see benben @ the CYMO concert at walt disney concert hall! that hall is so amazing... and the concert was amazing too. i finally realized how long its been since i last heard a live orchestra. even if you think classical music is boring, it is still thrilling just to watch how so many people can play at the same time and make such organized sound. ivy & her family were there too and she decided to sit by me to make me feel special =). then after the concert me n steph came straight back to school. it was pretty late though so i didnt have time to come to lab. yesterday was a lot of fun too - worship practice ended really early and on my way up the stairs i was stopped by thao on the second floor... turns out there was a big party thingy going on in their lounge with LOTs of leftover food, so i went for a little snack. met a new friend annie... its always awesome to meet people who also love to play piano. its one of very few things i actually know how to talk about hehe. but yea, then went to the lab and somehow managed to finish my essay. it was pretty difficult, cuz i didnt have enough BS to fill five pages, so i actually had to ADD more stuff (which makes it much worse). hopefully its not TOO bad... so yea, turned the essay in today. ate lunch with kat =). (nowadays its like a miracle when people actually call me to eat)... walked to class together afterwards - for some reason i totally lost track of what day it was and so i went downstairs thinking i was supposed to go to severin's section and then denise stopped me in the stairway and asked me where i was going and iw as like OH!! hahaha... stupid me. ohh and i smoked the sightsinging/dictation midterm. so far i have a 3-digit score on every assignment/test in joathan's class. hopefully i can keep it up =). actually i dunno about the weekly sightsinging cuz i did screw up a couple times, including today. i attempted solfege (im not crazy, once u get the hang of it it really does help!) but failed miserably halfway through the song hehe. owellz at least i got most of the pitches. and luckily we were running out of time so joathan didnt give me any alto clef or something crazy. but since class ended late, i knew i wouldnt make bruin cafe so i just stayed n chilled @ schoenberg. went to practice room w/ kat to start homeowrk for lefko due tomorrow. then i took a nap at the sculpture garden. guess who woke me up... a SQUIRREL. hahaha gosh i love those squirrels. too bad that one didnt want food when i gave it to him/her/it. but anyways, then i spent the rest of the afternoon in my room practicing chorales (head start on preparing for thursday) and doing my homework. gosh i LOVE this assignment. we have to compose 10-15 subjects for an Invention. and then lefko is gonna pick the good ones and we have to write the whole exposition! yes im a composition major so i think its fun hehe. (and if u look on the gradebook, our next two (last two) assignments of the quarter are to do the same thing with a Fugue! thats insane!! haha... im looking forward to it though =) ). anyways, after i practiced lon genough i went to dinner (by myself of course, wut a surprise hehe). dropped by annie's room on the way down to give her some sheet music she wanted, and she finally asked for my name haha (we never actually introduced ourselves... i only knew her name cuz its on her door hehe). i finished dinner @ 7ish and had a LOT of time to kill before coming to lab. so i came up with a brilliant idea - i went down sunset blvd and stood there. haha... come on, do i hafta say what i was doing there? saw a citröen (the really long ones with the narrow back. forgot wut its called). of course, my camera was with me, but i wasnt expecting any nice shots, cuz the headlights make it almost impossible to identify cars until they're already too close to take a picture. but then on my way back up the hill, i did end up getting one picture. here it is:

Ferrari 355 F1 Spider (on the full-size picture u can actually see the tiny words on the back, so thats how i knew it was the F1 model). i actually saw the car coming from far away but assumed it was a corvette c4 (the two have REALLY similar profiles, not to mention nearly identical taillights hehe). and then when it passed next to me i was like WHOA and i had to run down the hill to get this pic (thank god it was a red light =) ). it was almost 8PM (just before dark) and still the pic turned out awesome. seeing exotic cars with their lights on at night is definitely a unique experience - you can't even pay to see it at the show cuz they're not gonna dim the house lights for you hehe. and finally, a RED ferrari!! i dont understand the thing with bel-air people and beige/silver ferraris - if ur gonna buy an expensive show-off car, might as well get it in a show-off color right? hehe. but anyways, enough babbling about cars.

a couple more things before i shut up - the # of people using the computer lab is increasing a LOT these days, and sometimes theres actually a line of people waiting for the next free station. so i would really appreciate it if people who need to call me can call at a time other than between 9 to 11, and if u really need to talk to me, please get right to the point and not make it long. you know i love talking on the phone, and i feel really bad every time i have to make people shut up, but i also feel bad leaving my computer unattended when there's peopel waiting who need to use it. so i hope you guys can understand... if u wanna talk, just ask me to call you back after i leave the lab and i would be glad to do so.

another thing - remember last year i threw a goodbye party at the end of the schoolyear? i would love to do the same again this year, especially since most of my friends are leaving the dorms next year. its gonna be hard to find a good day/tiem though... actually i dont even remember my own finals week schedule hehe. but if you have any preferences on when/where/how the party is gonna work (if at all) please let me know. i would LOVE to end the schoolyear as wonderfully as last year

one last thing before i shut up (o.l.t.b.i.s.u... remember? hehe) - the big 90210 trip is tentatively scheduled for TOMORROW. the weather will make the final decision - my original plan is to go on a day when there is no chance of rain either the day before or the day after. but that layer of clouds above ucla these past few days are really getting in the way, even though its not supposed to rain at all. i'll see how it looks tomorrow - if i'm gonna walk three miles, i wanna make sure i get the best out of it. then again, who said i can only go there once? hehe... so yea, we'll see what happens tomorrow. if i go to theory class wearing shorts and carrying nothing in my backpack other than a clipboard and a waterbottle, you know where i'm off to =).

05/16: i remember i used to have a computer a long time ago... or maybe it was just a dream. in that dream i met many friends and enjoyed many great moments together with them. after i woke up, some of them woke with me and joined me in the real world. but others disappeared, and i never heard from them again. i still spend hours thinking about them - do they think about me? do they wonder where i am or what i'm doing? do they even realize that i'm gone? i wish they all do, but i don't know for sure. the only thing i can do to know for sure is wait until a day comes when i fall back into that same old dream. i know that i won't be the same as i used to be, and neither will everyone else. but i wish that whatever changes i go through will be for a good cause, and that i will be welcomed and accepted back into my own dream. i know that as long as i believe, miracles can happen, but i cannot tell when or how; when it happens, it just happens. for now, things aren't gonna change, and i have already learned to accept it and enjoy it the way it is. living in reality isn't nearly as bad as the people in my dream told me it is, and as the days pass by i'm slowly starting to realize that i have discovered a new side of life that they have yet to encounter. but somewhere inside my heart i will always believe that one day i will dream again - a new dream that combines the past and the present, the real and the unreal, taking the best from both sides to create a new reality greater than i can dream of.

05/14: carol's out at prom right now (freakin freshman going to prom! hehe) having the fun of her life. i've been sitting at home pretty much the whole day... actaully my mommy took me to banana bay =). that spicy shrimp fried rice was soo good, but somehow it got into my nose n eyes and so at the end it wa ssooo painful. i dunno wut happened, cuz ive eaten lotsa spicy food and nothing like that ever happened before. owellz... still hurts a little now but at least i can open my eyes again. anyways... i've been listening to JJ Lin's newest cd (thanx kathie =) ) a LOT this week, and today i came up with an amazing obsevation... and i found it so interesting that i actually installed sound forge on the home computer just to test it out. i took track 3 on the new cd ("Number 89757") and track 2 on jj's first cd ("Books") and mixed them together... the only modification i made was speed up the new song by about 1% (its barely noticible) so the two songs would have identical tempo. and then i mixed them and *pOoF* guess what... they fit together perfectly!! so it turns out both songs are in the same key, have the same harmony/style, and almost the same tempo. could JJ have known about this when he wrote the new song? hehe... (if u wanna hear what it sounds like mixed together, let me know). so yea, now that i've proved once again that i have no life, i think i'll shut up. byebye!

05/14: i am such an idiot... remember that 'excalibur' i saw earlier this week? (last pic on 5/11 entry) so yesterday i was at borders with rose and decided to stop by the car section to continue my search to figure out exactly what that car is and if its real or fake. turns out its neither - its not an excalibur! and im calling myself an idiot cuz i knew the answer the whole time! excalibur never built coupes (only sedans and roadsters), and thats why i couldnt find it. its actually a Zimmer Golden Spirit... i just had those two names mixed up in my head the day i wrote that entry, cuz its been several years since i last saw a zimmer and i totally forgot about it. the one i saw looks like a late 80s-90s model (im not sure exactly which one, but the back part of the cab looks like its custom built). its another one of those small (american) car companies that so few people know about, and the funniest thing is that Zimmer is the only car company i know that has its own THEME SONG!! hehe... so yea, disregard wut i wrote about that car on the 5/11 entry. it's has to be a Zimmer, and i'm very positive this time =).

05/13: computer surgery postponed indefinitely. no need to write all the details here, if u wanna know then ask me. dun worry, everythings gonna get taken care of, but its just gonna take more time, maybe another couple weeks? if not, someone at customer service is gonna have a really bad day. when i called them today they were really nice and did everything they could to help, so i'm not exactly mad at them. i just dont understand why i'm going through so much trouble just to replace a freakin hard drive. yes, i really want to hurry up and get my computer working again, but what really makes me frustrated is that i've already raised my hopes so many times but failed each time. i thought i already learned everything i needed to learn about not being dependant on my computer for everything, but i know God must have a reason for making me wait even longer, and i'm trying really really hard to be patient and let things get settled one step at a time.

i got to spend the night with Rose and just got home a few minutes ago. when she first called me i wasnt sure if i really wanted to go out cuz i was sitting in my room staring at my computer and getting really really frustrated. i wanted to tell her i didnt have time, or didnt wanna spend more money (cuz theres a lot i really need to save up for right now), but deep inside i knew that if i wanted to free myself from being trapped in frustration, i have to give myself a chance first, and i knew that spending time with friends always cheers me up. so i went to pick rose up and we went to the mall to walk around until the stores were closing, then went to genki living for dinner (yummy nutella =D), then took pictures at Cue. rose taught me how to do all these little fobby poses which ive been wanting to learn for the longest time (notice how i look the same in every sticker picture i take?)... that was definitely a lot of fun (and yes, i know i have to scan/post a LOT of pics... i'll start worrying about that when i can stop worrying about my computer first). even though the several hours i spent dealing with unneccesary computer trouble drove me crazy, at least the day ended with several hours of fun. and on that note i'll shut up, cuz i wanna sleep early so i can teach piano well tomorrow =)

05/12: got out of theory class at like 1:30. actually i stayed longer as usual, but still... probably never gonna finish this fast again though cuz today there was no dictation or chorales. so i started heading back before 2 and ran into kitty on the way so we chilled @ the ucla store for a while then went to bruin cafe. after she left i sat there with my #14 (vanilla iceblend) for the longest time just staring at the wall hehe. then went up to the secret place until it was time for catalyst. i discovered something amazing today - the walk to north campus is only about 20 steps away from sunset blvd and the two are parallel. so i figured i might as well bring my camera and walk down sunset instead. come on, an extra 10 seconds of walking isnt gonna kill ok? so yea... didnt see anything too special until i was just about to turn away and head back to campus (at the traffic light) and then i saw a testarossa... it was one of those moments that i knew i couldnt get a good pic cuz i had just turned off the camera a couple seconds ago, but decided even a tiny picture of it would be better than nothing. so i watched it going up the hill and took a pic of the whole street (kinda like wut i did with the maybach a few weeks ago). then when i moved the camera away from my face, there was a delorean right in front of me. so yea, while i was shooting the testarossa it turns out i accidentally got a delorean up close. cool huh? so yea, heres the pics

i apologize that they arent very clear... 5:00PM isnt a very good time to look west, cuz all u get is blinding glare. im sure one of these days i'll take nicer pics of both of these cars. but for now i guess it will do. on the left is the delorean - another one of those cheap to own but expensive to maintain cars. coolest thing about it is the gullwing doors - even though the car's old, gullwing doors are ALWAYS a good head-turner. the other cool thing - yes this is the 'back to the future car' (without all the extra movie gadgets of course hehe). it was the movie that made deloreans famous (even though it still went out of business very soon, but then that makes it pretty rare too hehe). and the pic on the right, of course, is the testarossa. to give you an idea how bad the glare is, the cars color is actually bronze and not black hehe. but hey, a crappy pic is better than othing right?

so anyways... for the THIRD time, i'm declaring the possibility that this may be my last labtime. i really dun wanna bother predicting if it really is or not, cuz both previous times failed. as long i follow the instruction manual properly, tomorrow's surgery should be no problem. i'm really tired of going through so much trouble getting my computer to work, and hopefully the new hard drive will solve the problem completely. wish me luck...

05/11: awesome day... went to breakfast a bit later than usual but still ran into steph before she left. so i stayed a bit longer and anita came and joined me. and of course, having people to eat breakfast with always makes a great start to any day =). theory class was fun too... unforgettable moment of the day - when lefko was about to read yejee's paper out loud and she shrieked and grabbed the paper away from him. hehe... next week we're gonna be writing the beginning of our own Inventions. i cant wait! hehe n then after class i went to... waitaminit lemme skip that part for now. had dinner with the usual gang, which i once again eat with on a regular basis =). i came to the lab early today to finish my english essay... its only the intro paragraph so didnt take all that long. (i decided against finishing the whole thing a week early cuz we havent gone over a lot of the stuff in class yet).

anyways, if you read yesterday's entry, u probably know wut i did after theory class. i traveled east on comstock... i chose the residential street cuz that might be the way i take for the big 90210 trip and i wanna get familiar with it first. so i found a little park there and decided to walk around for a while before going up to my usual spot (corner of sunset & beverly glen). anyways, you're probably sick of my babbling already so lemme jump right to the pictures.

three different rolls-royces... first one is the original (first generation) Corniche... very hard for me to tell between the early models, but i think the round side mirrors are only on the first gen ones. and for a 70s-80s rolls-royce this one is in really good condition. fast forward a few decades, and the second picture is the newest Corniche, which is no longer produced after BMW took control of Rolls-Royce. hopefully there will be a new corniche in the next few years (probably based on the 100EX concept), but for now this is still the most elegant modern full-size convertible ever made, and its still worth over 200 grand =). third picture - the Silver Seraph, discontinued at the same time as the Corniche and replaced by the Phantom.
now for some ferraris... left: 360 spider coming out of Bel Air (what a surprise hehe... see why i chose to stand at that spot?). right: 308GTS... i've always wanted to photograph some older ferraris and now i finally got my chance =). successor to the Dino, the 308 led to a long line of 8-cylinder mid engine ferraris - the 328, 348, 355, 360, and the new F430 that most dealers dont even have yet (i think it just went on sale). funniest thing is that after i saw the pic on the computer i realized the driver was staring straight at me. his expression is too blurry to tell though, but i would love to know what he was thinking when he saw me hehe. anyways, now for a few more pics

left: plymouth prowler - one of those cars that not expensive to buy, but rather expensive to maintain (cuz its so rare). not something everyone would want as an everyday driver, but definitely a great way to show off. (why da heck was the guy in the passenger seat staring at me? if ur gonna ride in a nice car, dont complain about getting too much attention hehe). this is one of very few (modern) american cars that fit my exotics list... the other main one is the viper. by the way, i saw a viper GTS-R today!! it was way too fast for a pic though =/. besides those i would probably have to raise my standards above 700 grand for a saleen s7... dont count on seeing one of those anytime soon hehe. right: another exotic american car, the excalibur. at least thats wut i think it is. definitely looks like one, but excaliburs are soo rare that theres probably under a dozen websites that mention them. only problem is that i cant tell if this is a real one or a kit, cuz theres a LOT of excalibur kits out there. i remember there was a book at the RH library about excaliburs... hopefully i'll stop by sometime this weekend to check it out.

so anyways, thats enough fun for one day. i was pretty tired walking back to my room, but the whole trip was well over two miles (maybe 3?), which tells me that the 90210 expedition is definitely possible if i'm willing to do it. and being the car freak that i am, why would i not be willing?

05/10: just got back from schoenberg after the grad composers recital. i think this is the third recital... i still remember the first one when i just decided to go out of the blue cuz i had nothing else to do. and who would have guessed my name would end up on the program on tonight's recital? hehe... so yea, our awesome alleluia choir actually did pretty well. there were some lil messups, but overall i thought it was decent. other pieces were cool too... pretty wierd actually, but hey if im gonna be a composition major i have to learn to appreciate this weird stuff =). so anyways, i got back to sproul at around 10 and decided to drop by the lab anyways cuz i didnt come yesterday either and i really want to update. if i dont come today its gonna be almost three whole days without seeing a computer screen! haha... well actually i did use a computer in the schoenberg library for a couple minutes to check my theory midterm grade. i never even knew there wre computers there hehe... guess i'm starting to learn my way around my new home now =). and yes, those of u who kept making me shut up when i said i did bad on the midterm, you were right... didnt do all THAT bad (even though whoever got the 101% still makes me kinda uncomfortable hehe). so i got a 96... ranked 3rd. good enough for me, considering i barely even had time to finish it yesterday.

this entry seems to be going backwards in time... i guess i'll keep it that way. so this morning started off great, cuz we had a mini scavenger hunt in english class! this is tied with the poetry map project for being my favorite day in class. hehe... rewind even more to yesterday, and i was so tired i almost died. jazz class in the morning... fun class, but two hours without a break is really too much for my attention span. and then theory midterm... felt pretty screwed at the end cuz i thought i did really really bad. and then at night went back to schoenberg for alleluia rehearsal. finally all four tenors were there... makes me feel so much better =). once again jonathan brought pizza... they were the biggest pizzas i have ever seen!! but too bad i didnt even get one piece, cuz it was 8:50 when we finished and i had to be back at 9 for the next rehearsal. and of course, its such a great feeling to play some worship songs after an hour of atonal music hehe. well its not exactly atonal, but you know what i mean. the sophomore worship team is awesome... a little bit of onion flava, a little bit of this year's team (once again, name TBA hehe), plus a few more friends. thursday's event is gonna be great. they're gonna be promoting it tomorrow so in case u havent heard, its the 'spiritual identity theft' thing... thursday 6:30PM @ rolfe 1200. everyone is invited =).

now about my laptop... my mom just called earlier tonight and told me the hard drive already arrived (yesterday). just pray that i'll do a good job of folllowing the instruction manual (for the computer) to install everything. thats gonna happen this weekend, and if all goes well, i'll be back online in my room on monday. meanwhile, i still have a LOT of free time, especially in the afternoons. i'm having such a great time wandering around campus these days, running into friends and talking and stuff... and of course, remember that new hobby i developed at the end of last month (you know... all those pics i posted)? dont worry i'm planning on going carwatching again soon, in fact probably tomorrow afternoon. in the past couple days i've been weighing the possibilities of a really realy really crazy plan of mine. so far i only walk as far as beverly glen blvd, which is the border of beverly hills and los angeles/westwood... but i havent' exactly gone to beverly hills. i'm planning to walk all the way to santa monica blvd and rodeo drive, the heart of 90210. its really not that far... i already researched it... from schoenberg (my last class everyday) it's a bit over two miles. most people dont realize it, but walking from the dorms to class (the farther ones) is almost a mile already. so its basically just like going to/from campus three or four times. i will defeinitely appreciate the exercise, and the best part is all the eye candy i'm gonna get at beverly hills. i've been to that block a few times before (exoticar gallery), and those ferraris are just parked along the streets. too bad i didnt have a digital camera back then. but now i do, and i plan on making good use of it =). i'm gonna start mapping out the way in the next few days, and hopefully by next week or the week after, i'll be on my way. and its gonna take a LOT of time, so im gonna leave straight from class and probably get back just in time for dinner. but hey, it's totally worth it, at least for a freak like me. hehe... so anyways, i should shut up now. i'm listening to chinese pop right now hehe, cuz a whole recital of atonal music really leaves me craving for authentic cadences. hehe... but yea, the cd just ended, and i think my labtime is about to end too. byebye!

05/08: actually wait, one more thing. apparently a lot of people are wondering where i've been for the past month since i havent been online. dont worry, i did NOT block anyone or get a new sn. i only block people when i consider them a threat (and yes there have been a few hehe) but recently i havent had to do that to anyone. thanks everyone for at least remembering me and realizing that i 'disappeared'. but if u know anyone that has no idea wut happened to me and/or think i'm mad at them and blocked them, pleez tell them what really happened (you know... computer dead...). there's absolutely no reason my hard drive won't have arrived by the time i go home on friday, so as long as i install everything with no problem, i'll be out of the lab starting next monday. ok thats all... now i'm really gonna start my essay hehe

05/08: happy mothers day to all the mothers who read this page. i doubt theres any... haha but if i know ur mom, tell her i said happy mothers day =). anyways... its 9:10PM rite now and i just got back to school and came to the lab to start my essay. so a VERY quick summary of today - went to church, james couldnt make it to teach sunday school so baldwin led a smallgroup discussion... that was awesome =). after church everybody went to banana bay but the wait was too long so we all migrated (like 20-30 people) to BCD tofu house. dont worry, we got separate tables this time so its not nearly as chaotic as last time. but yea, seafood tofu is great =). had dinner at steph n ben's place, and then came straight back to school. so yea, about that essay i was in such a rush to do - i'm looking at the syllabus right now and it says its NOT due on tuesday. paper says a 'draft of paper three intro' is due on thursday, and the paper itself is due next tuesday. wut da heck... i swear i heard the TA say its due on tuesday. the syllabus's plan seems much more logical (longer paper, about a week to work on it, and he did say he wanted to give us an EARLY start this time). but um... since my mind is already set on getting this puppy over with, might as well start writing as if its due tuesday. (hey, maybe the syllabus is wrong. but then again im sure someone would have emailed about it by now. and im not gonna bother sounding stupid cuz most people in my class are much more outspoken than me hehe). so yea, time to get to work. and i'm only writing now cuz i know i wont have labtime tomorrow (alleluia dress rehearsal, then run back to my room to change and go straight to IV worship rehearsal. that starts at 9 (IV time hehe), so im guessing by the time i get out its gonnna be pretty late and not worth another trip downstairs. (unless i still need to do that essay, which means i wont have time to update anyways). so yea, i'll shut up now. byebye!

05/07: hard drive hasnt come yet, so its gonna be another week (assuming i have time next weekend to install everything and have it ready to use again). anyways i just got back from benbens house after an hour of unreal tournament... pretty fun game even tho i suck =/ i'm still freakin full from dinner... we had our mothers day dinner one day early cuz people are busy tomorrow and cuz its gonna be so crowded everywhere tomorrow. went to some restaurant in diamond plaza... waited forever but food was sooo good so its all worth it =). tomorrow denise is going to church again... like i said on the phone with ken earlier while he was at denise's house, 'am i supposed to say i look forward to seeing her tomorrow, or will she consider that an insult?' she said i'll find out tomorrow. grreeaat... haha anyways one last thing before i shut up (gosh i say that a lot huh? theres gotta be a shorter way to say it. how about o.l.t.b.i.s.u.? sounds japanese.. hehe) - theory people, if u wanna study tomorrow night, please let me know as soon as possible... cuz i have a 5pg essay due tuesday and i wanna get started as soon as possible (cuz i only have about three hours on monday since i have two rehearsals that day (alleluia & worship team) and by the time i'm done i'll be way too tired to think... its due the next morning). i'm hoping to be back at school early enough tomorrow to have a few hours in the lab and at least know what i'm gonna be writing BS about. hehe... so yea, thats all for now. now this is the part where i shut up. *shuts up*

05/06: ran into jessica during breakfast today =). gosh its been like forever since i last ate with her. then went to jazz class and went back to pack and then came home. as usual, the latest issue of Autoweek is on my desk waiting for me. so i'm flippin thru it while eating lunch (can u guess wut it is? hehe) and guess what i see... a BENTLEY SUV. then the next page - a MERCEDES PICKUP TRUCK. remember back in the late 90s when acura, infiniti, lexus, cadillac, lincoln, and a zillion other companies all decided to start making SUVs? it was pretty shocking news, especially the cadillac. and then mercedes and bmw followed, and then the Porsche Cayenne comes out. dont get me wrong, those are all great cars, i mean, trucks. but i tend to lean more to the argument (autoweek presented both views) that all of this marketing stuff is almost sacrilegious, especially when it comes to exotic brands. its so hard to define 'exotic' nowadays, when ferraris and bentleys have become so much more common than they used to (not that i'm complaining about that hehe). the reason bentley wants an SUV is, of course, to increase sales. but if i were a bentley owner, i would be much happier knowing that i'm the only one at the stoplight with the winged 'B' on my hood. they should really just let Land Rover take care of the trucks and stick to what they're already so famous for. what about the super-exclusive brands like maybach? (dont worry, theres no report of a maybach suv hehe). the cheapest model in their lineup (the 52) is over 300 grand. of course, they can probably count how many cars they sell each year. but then again, they're just a branch of mercedes-benz, so why worry about selling more cars? so after reading the autoweek, i moved on to the new motor trend issue sitting next to it. they have a small paragraph about Maybach, and guess what, they're currently working on a smaller and much cheaper four door sedan. WHY!?!?!??! just get an S500 and add a bunch of TVs and curtains and there you go... is it that hard!? haha... why the heck am i babbling about this anyways? its not like i'm actually gonna own any of these cars anyways. i should write to the magazine huh? hehe... makes me look forward to reading hte 'letters' section of next week's autoweek (im sure a large portion of readers agree with me). but if i really had my way, you know what i would like the next Maybach to be? *closes eyes and dreams* how about a four-seat convertible, like the kind bentley and rolls-royce used to make? (i've thought about this so long that i actually sketched out how i would like the convertible to look like... not gonna post it though cuz its so unclear when i shrink it. and for those of you who didnt know, yes i spend a lot of my free time (or class time) drawing cars hehe). but anyways, its midnight already and i really have no excuse to be sitting here babbling about cars since i have wake up tomorrow morning to teach piano. maybe i'll bring my camera and stop at hing wa's plaza on my way home...

05/05: happy cinco de mayo everybody =). i dun even know what its supposed to celebrate but owellz... anyways i got really lucky today... it didnt start raining until i was about 5 seconds away from Sproul after my morning class. and it stopped when i went to lunch and to theory class (afternoon), then started again right after i got back to sproul. anyways, i smoked the keyboarding midterm =). another hour of practice before class really helped, and i could have probably played the chorales blindfolded hehe. so yea, i was the first one finished (edwin duznt count cuz he had to leave early hehe) and chilled there for about 45 minutes playing with the keyboard for fun. yes i know i have no life, but come on wuts there to do in my room anyways? actually it was pretty interesting when i returned to sproul... i went to the laundry room to grab some paper towel and look what i see sitting on the dryer...

apparently someone on my floors been having waaaay too much fun. i wonder how long it took him/her to finish all that... hehe... then at 5 i headed out for Catalyst... thats when i had to get wet for the first time today. but owellz... i took the anderson school elevator and when i passed the parking lot i saw a Quattroporte. ok its not THAT expensive (over 90 grand), at least not compared to the cars i usually write about here. but still... it's handbuilt, has a ferrari engine, and is rare (currently the wait line is over a year). too bad i didnt have my camera =/. owellz... i'm sure i'll run into many more of these in future carwatching expeditions (next week maybe? hehe). catalyst was awesome, especially at the end cuz i was starving but i wasnt sure if i wanted to get bruin cafe since i would have to take time to eat it all and then come to the lab really late. but then when we finished i went outside and guess what i see - 99 ranch market express! hahaha so basically whoever prepared snacks today decided to go super-asian. u kno, those exotic azn snacks... rice crackers, spicy shrimp sticks, azn onion rings, etc. there were more than a dozen bags of different snacks already opened and sitting in a row waiting for me to eat. so yea, i spent a LONG time standing right there, until most of the food was gone. (dun worry, there were lots of other peopl eating too hehe. ) oh and of course, we also had those awesome tiny lil yogurt drinks (yang luh dwo or wutever its called). its frozen too! (i love it frozen) except its so hard to drink and took forever for everyone to bite off the top half of the bottle. but yea... that was definitely one awesome dinner. im not sure who was in charge of snacks, but whoever it was, thanks!! anyways, i'm relaly hyper right now cuz im listening to Digitally Imported (you know... the winamp euro techno station). for some weird reason i stopped getting hooked on trance after high school, but with all these hours spent in the lab i couldnt help put my headphones to good use =). hehe... only problem is that i have a rule for myself - no techno after 11PM. its 11:05 right now =/. *sadly turns off music* whatever... i know its for my own good (or else i'll be lying in bed for hours unable to fall asleep). hehe ok anyways, as some of you might have figured, there's a possibility this might be the last of my daily lab times. but then again thats wut i said a few weeks ago and i'm still here hehe. so yea, no promises... but hopefully my harddrive will show up at my door tomorow or saturday, otherwise i'll be here for another week. but anyways, i think i've babbled long enough for today. time to head back, chill in my room for a while, and then go sleep. goodnight!

05/04: last night something amazing happened at the lab... the air conditioner was on!! not the heater!! finally, someone realized this place was an oven and decided to do somethign about it. today is just as nice as yesterday... maybe i wont even have to bring my mini fan anymore! =). anyways... quick summary starting from last night - gathered with a bunch of IV pplz to sing happy bday to karen... and before she came we lit the cake in her room and set off the fire alarm! hahaha luckily its only the room one and not the whole building, so nothing happened. hehe... today was really great overall - breakfast with steph, then crammed before taking jazz midterm. it wasnt too bad i guess... and i finished early (as usual) so i got to treat myself to a smoothie before theory. spent most of the afternoon practicing piano for tomorrow's midterm (severin section). turns out after having to learn a zillion chorales, we only need to know TWO on the midterm, and one of them is only three phrases. not that im complaining or anything hehe... cuz i already learned both of them before so its basically all review. pretty sure i can just warm up a few minutes tomorrow before class and i'll be fine. dinner was the highlight of the day - got a call from vincent, and i went to eat with our old gang at deneve. yes, the group that mysteriously stopped talking to me for several weeks... i still dont know what happened, but i hope they simply assumed i was busy and didnt bother calling me to eat. at least i know they're not mad at me or anything... ohh and swathi told me shes using one of my wallpapers and it says 'calvinchang.net' on the bottom and she thought i was spying on her or sumthin. hahaha... dont worry im not that bored, and for those of you who didnt know, yes there are wallpapers on this site. hehe... n then after dinner i went to chill at yune's room... listened to a bunch of chinese pop hehe. n then somehow we started talking about cars. turns out yune likes british sedans but doesnt like the continental flying spur. how is that possible? haha... anyways now i'm in the lab again and i feel soooo relieved not having to frantically memorize 50 jazz songs anymore. i can actually sit here and relax (especially with the AC hehe) for two hours. ohh and one other thing - im really not sure if i'll have my computer fixed by this weekend, cuz it took a few days for my hard drive to ship, so i dunno if i'll get it by friday or saturday. if not then i'll have another week of labtime. hey... i'm actually enjoying labtime everyday now, and once again i really love having the whole afternoon free. it even makes studying for midterms more productive. and yea i know, i didnt go to beverly hills this week. didnt have time at all, and tomorrow its supposed to rain (its already sprinkling now) so i doubt anyones gonna be driving their maybachs hehe. ok fine i'll admit i did spend about 2 minutes today gazing out the window from my room (cuz i can see a piece of sunset from there) and during those two minutes i saw a couple bentleys and a 360 spider. good enough considering i was still trying to focus on studying hehe. but anyways, thats all i have to say for now. got my english essay back yesterday and the TA said everyone can turn in a second draft for a few more points. its not gonna make a big difference in my grade, but since i dun have much to do now i might as well give it a shot.

05/03: its only 10 right now... i moved up my labtime an hour so i can get outta here and go study. actually i'm studying right now... listening to and trying to memorize a gazillion jazz songs hehe. i have like 5 more songs to remember (out of about 50... so pretty much done already =) ). but yea... midterm is 11 tomorrow morning, so since i get up at 8 i'll have a lot more time to prepare (and maybe come to the lab for another listen if needed). theory homework also due tomorrow... this is the first time lefko gave homework due wednesday, and it just has to be midterm week. gosh... haha owellz its not that long.. harmonic analysis, i actually miss that stuff. weird huh? haha... and of course, there was a big homework party, but i couldnt go cuz i had to study jazz. but i kept in touch w/ kat via cellphone, so i guess i was still there in a sense hehe. i'm like 95% done with my theory hw, just gotta go back and run through it one last time to make sure everything is right. and of course, gotta memorize all 50 jazz song names, who its by, and what year. the rest i can BS on the spot during the test hehe. but anyways... today was a really fun day overall. in writing class i actually TALKED. hahaha... weird huh? and judy (my partner) said i had really good ideas and said them well. probably jsut to make me feel better haha cuz i suck at public speaking. but anyways... fast forward a few hours and its time for jonathan midterm. i smoked the sightsinging!! =) he gave me easy ones hehe. so i finished really early but i stayed another half n hour to watch yejee frantically trying to memorize the solfege as quickly as possible. haha... anyways then i got back to sproul just in time for an ice blend, which kept me happy when i studied hehe. went to schoenberg again @ 6 for alleluia rehersal. i still suck haha. owellz next week theres gonna be more tenors so i can kinda hide in the back hehe. ohh and someone remind me to bring black pants& longsleeve shirt to school for dress rehearsal & concert. if u wanna come watch the concert, its gonna be tuesday night @ popper theatre. but then again im gonna suck... if u wanna see me do something i can actually do well (namely keyboard hehe), theres a much better opportunity 7th week. in fact, all you people in sproul better come out for this one, cuz even if u dont, ur gonna be able to hear it from ur room! hehehe... more details to come later =). for now, im gonna shut up and go back to study. byebye!

05/02: soo... apparently people like my little 'SNU' idea cuz i'm not the only one using it now *cough*kathie*cough* hehe... but yea, no SNU for me this week cuz it was lik e10:30 when i got back to school yesterday so i decided to skip a day of lab. soo... lotsa random stuff to write about, but lemme take care of the 'MNU' first hehe. so um... church yesterday was awesome... kinda scary how me n andrew were the only ones at sunday school... but i guess its a good thing too cuz its more personal that way. n then worship with steph's team for second service was really good... one of our best times in my opinion... that key change at the end kicked butt!! hehe =) n then after church went to Q nOodle with ken. he actually said he was in the mood for rice, but we ended up going to Q cuz they had good rice too (i still chose to stick with my yummy noodles hehe... thats the one place where i actually like the noodles so much that i dont feel bad for not choosing rice instead). then talked w/ ken in the parking lot for a long time. then went home n did more busywork until night. mom was gone at night so me n carol went to dinner & shop at the mall. that was fun... feels like i havent been to the mall for a long time. (long for me is like... 2 weeks? haha... probably more in this case. but yea, i go the mall way too much for a guy hehe). anyways, fast forward about 20 hours and i'm on my way back from theory class and ran into jen! havent seen her in the longest time... she went back to sproul with me n chilled in my room... then she called her friend tamara (my floormate) n she came over too and then we all went to her room to chill. looks like i made a new friend on my floor hehe... *soo happy* its always so awkward walking by people cuz i know them but i dont know them and im not sure if i should say hi or not. but anyways... then i went back to my room just in time for a call from steph, and that left me with about 20 minutes until dinner (5:30). so during that 20 minutes i started to um... STUDY!!! yupyup... midterms are coming up! but of course, this is the time when i LOVE north campus... my midterms start tomorrow (jonathan section... duz that really count? hehe), and by this time next week i'll be all done until finals. duznt htat make you jealous? hehehe well good luck everyone... and to myself too cuz i'll definitely need it. the one midterm im worried about is jazz... cuz i havent been doing the listening assignments (kinda tough without a computer)... so right now i'm in the lab listening... thank god it actually works otherwise i'll be really screwed. but yea... i'm actually studying TWO days before the test (wednesday) hehe. amazing huh? anyways... i hope to be halfway done by tonight, so tomorrow's cramming isnt gona be THAT bad.

so anyways... now for a bunch of random stuff - (1) this weekend's rehearsal and concert are cancelled. i just found out today and i'm pretty ticked off about it (knowing me and how much i hate last minute notices... its not exactly last minute in this case, except the fact that i already frantically learned all the music). but its ok, cuz we're (supposedly) gonna have more chances to use the stuff we already learned. so i'm not gonna worry about it for now (especailly cuz i dun want any distractions until my jazz midterm is finished. actually severin's midterm is the day after, which means wednesday i'll be frantically practicing hehe). but anyways, moving on with more random stuff - (2) even though i couldnt go to the alleluia rehearsal last week, i'm NOT backing out... its just that last week i already had plans when i found out the rehearsal time. but yea, i talked with jonathan today and he said its ok, so i'll be there for tomorrow's rehearsal. and also next monday's rehearsal. and that leads to (3) - i'm free next monday night because theres no worship practice next week (perfect planning huh? hehe). next thursday is the sophomore event, so i'm supposedly playing for that, but what i hear so far is that rehearsal is at 9, which means i might be late but i'll still be there =). oh by the way, it looks like the 2005-2006 worship team might have found itself a name already. its only tentative but we all love it. i'll post it when we know for sure hehe.

ok, one last thing before ending this entry - my laptop. mostly good news =). on saturday i finished backing up everything, and turns out even though the hard drive is almost half corrupted, most of the damaged stuff is system files, and the documents that were damaged can all be recreated, so it didnt cause me any trouble at all. as for the computer itself, i've decided to fix it myself so i dont have to pay labor (come on, its just a stupid hard drive. if i really do get confused, the computer manual explains the whole process in detail). i already ordered a new hard drive from dell and it's on its way to my house right now. the only bad thing is that i'm down about 260 bucks. (yes, its a really good hard drive). but on the other hand turns out i'm a 'returning customer' (cuz i bought the laptop from dell) so the $260 is actually after a discount, plus free 3-5 day shipping. and the free shipping means it will be at my door by friday (when i go home). now that my whole weekend's freed up, i guess i'll have plenty of time to reinstall windows n everything. i'm hoping to have everything working again by the time i get back to school next week. wish me luck =).
